11 a.m. yesterday, me and Calico ( my .50 cal. TC Firehawk ) got us a very fine Pike Co. Penn. doe. The 250 grain .45 XTP hit her behind the right shoulder, thrashed her lungs and exited her left flank.
She stood there after the shot and walked off tail up! I thought I missed! 50 yards?! She walked towards the base of the ridge I was sitting on and out of my sight. I heard her prancing around and then she crashed .
This was Calico's first day of her first season. Nice way to start! Could not be happier with this rifle.
The load was my standard. 45 cal 250 grain XTP in a Harvester crush rib, over 70 grains of 3f Swiss, lit with a Remington #11. 1575 fps. Bead and aperture sights.
