A quick back story on this. 3 weeks ago my daughter and I hunted the youth hunt. She had a doe broadside at 20 yards but although it was legal shooting time it was still to dark to see her sights. She tried and tried but she made the smart decision and din't pull the trigger on a shot she was not sure of. I made a post on here about lowering the scope and raising the cheek on her Knight littlehorn and got her all fixed up ready for this weekend.

Fast forward to this weekend. We got to "Grandmas camp" Friday afternoon and went out to our stand to put the chairs and heater in and pull the trail camera. Upon checking the pics our jaws hit the floor. We have only ever gotten pics of small bucks from that spot but this time there were multiple pics of multiple nice bucks! Our hopes were high going into Saturday. We got out about 1.5 hours before sunrise and could shoot at 6:30. At 6:40 I saw a deer coming from the right. I handed her her Littlehorn and said "DEER". He was moving right to left and I said as soon as he hits the shooting lane I'll make a noise and stop him and you shoot when ready. As soon as that buck hit the shooting lane he stopped on his own and without hesitation, Madi fired and he dropped to the ground like struck by lightning! She busted through the side of the stand with her hands up in celebration. I kinda sat there for a second and said OMG did that just happen! I also had my 8 year old boy with and he was just as excited. When we got out to her deer I couldn't believe what was laying there! Any first deer is a memorable experience but to have a deer like this be your first is awesome. She hunted hard last year with me and never even saw a deer but she didn't give up and was persistent on wanting to shoot a deer. We looked through the trail cam pics again later that night and we do have 6 pics of her buck.

The bullet went through both shoulders and spine and stopped on the hide. 80 grains 777ffg and a .40 200 grain XTP. I'd say it did its job!

Trail cam pics of him.

Outstanding!!

Tell her congratulations from ol'Encore.
I just absolutely love it when the youngsters are enthused about hunting, especially the young ladies.
There's one dandy memory!

Congrats to the young lady! Beautiful buck. Great job Dad.
