I have a 50 cal encore. I want to shoot the 400 gr8 hardest harvested bullet and want to use my goex I know before anyone says it why not use Blacktown 209 I have that but want to try my goex. Any load recommendations.

As an fyi, I wont be saying “Blackhorn 209”. Never used it and have so much real black, or Pyrodex that I wont be in the near future.
Sorry, not at all familiar with the bullet you mentioned. Is it a saboted projectile? Bore size?
Either way, I would start at 70 gr of either 2fg or 3fg (try both) and top out at 100 grains. I see no need for more, for any reason. These are by volume of course.

Took my Encore hunting rig with 4x scope to the 1st NMLRA spring in-line match (2013?) and damn near won-2nd place out of 35 shooters.
I was the only one in top 5 that had a factory (Non-custom) Rifle.
500gr PP HP over 85gr Swiss

Good luck.

The real key to shooting lead bullets through a QLA is a stack of wads or a substance like corn meal that is longer than the QLA when compressed. The bullet must leave the bore before the gas goes around it.

I think he is talking about using the Harvester Hardcast 400gr bullet in a sabot. I cant see any reason why it wont work but that bullet gets no expansion. Tissue displacement is just from the wide metplat and enough velocity.

Yes it is a saboted bullet I really want a lead bullet in a sabot to shoot in my encore 50 cal.

45-70 won a match with this one...

Think about using the AC Gould sized down.

I shoot them in my knight bighorn with both Pyrodex select and 2f BP , both are in the 1500 fps range and shoot well. I found that you should weigh your 400 gr bullets and sort them . Their not the most accurate unless you do that, a lot of weight variance .
