I bought an Omega 50 caliber SS W/Laminated thumb hole stock Why? as I have more than I can shoot especially now When I saw it the fellow said it was almost new He was 100% right I give it 99% immaculate in and out How does one tell when it was made and what model it is? Thanks lou

The action pivot of those early Omega were held in place with a set screw; the later Omega pin were held in place by knurling; do not have the set screw.

I just recently acquired an Omega and and impressed with the quality. Based on the info provided above, it's one of the older ones, like new condition. It shoots great with 100gr of BH209 and 275gr Barnes TSX bullets. The breech plug and primer seal perfectly with no blow back. It has become my new favorite in-line.

My Omega's going out late season with 275 grain Fury inside of a crush rib and 100 grains VOLUME Black Horn.
I've had 2 .50 TC Omega's & did a lot of shooting & hunting with them. I kept it simple with 3- 50gr Pyrodex pellets, stock 209 BP & a 223gr Powerbelt. Never had a single prob with either. Many trash all powerbelts, but I have no complaints with them at all. They shot great, accurately & performed very well on everything I've shot with them. My father & brother have had Omega's since I got my 1st one when they came out. We all have tratitional .50 patched round ball ML's as well.

Years ago I had some power belt bullets given to me I went to the range using 777 and the power belt they shot very good I hunted with then and shot one of the biggest bucks he went right down that was the last time I hunted with them I checked this Omega and it has the set screw Is there anyone out there converting the standard breech plug to one that has large rifle ignition

I think Hankins has a plug for them in direct ignition.

I'm not sure, but I think Luke @ ASG is making conversion breech plugs & I'm pretty sure Jeff Hankins is making them for all types of ML's. Hope this helps, kind regards

Did it, and fired over 1000 shots using the rifle primer. Saw no real compelling reason to continue the experiment. Shotgun primers are reliable, and provide accurate results.
Me too. Although not in an Omega. I got an LRMP bp from Hankins. Its great at the range if you want every fps you can get. No complaints at all. But for hunting, for convenience and accuracy, it isn't worth it imo.

You got a LRMP module or Direct Ignition type? DI is quite a bit different.
