Would like to know what are most peoples true opinions on the Knight Disc Extreme in .52 Caliber?

Thanks as always,

Greg

I would love to have one if I could find a place or someone that casted lead conicals for a 52 cal.

Absolutely love the 52 . I can’t understand why it’s not more popular. 1 in 26 twist , very accurate deer killing machine. I have 3 if that helps, my hunting parter just bought one because he sees what I have done with it

Has anyone shot the bloodline sabots that Knight offers?

I have shot them in a .45 cal. 200gr version . I found them super accurate and I did kill a big doe with it but after that doe I sold off the rest and never used them again. I hunt thick river bottoms and the doe after being hit with a perfect shot dbl. lung she made it about 85yds with almost noon existent blood trail. Took me 3 he's off grid searching before I found her and yes when I found her there was an exit hole the same size as the base of the bullet but no blood until the cavity filled up enough to run out. Now after that being said everyone has different results using them and from what I have read most have decent results with them. But not me that is why I love big lead conicals it's like hitting the animal with a Mac truck and never had one go more than 20-30yds most of the time they are drt.

I only have used 325 ftx Hornady, no real reason to try anything else at the moment, extremely accurate and they have been devastating on deer, I haven’t had to track a deer since I bought the 52.i have at least 15 straight kills with this gun , it’s the only thing I hunt with. But I am going to take my new ultra lite 45 fast twist out tomorrow

Ok, I use the Barnes Expander MZ's in my Mk85. Is there a Barnes bullet, size wise just like the Expander for the .52 cal.? I have close to 500 .52 sabots to put them in.

Thanks for the help.
Greg

Look on knights web sight they do and you may be able to find out the size and then go to Midway USA or Midsouth and find them on their website but they are going to sale them in pls of 20

I really, really like mine especially after I had it chopped back to a 21 in barrel, carries like a dream now and is great in a tree stand.. just as accurate as it was before chopping it also.
I shoot the FTX .458 325gr and 110 gr of BH209.

I would think the gun would be just fine, though I don’t see any magic beyond the common 50 cal. With the 52 cal one needs to source components more carefully, then you’ll never have the selection of the 50.

Other than than, one could get by just fine. I actually went the other way the last few years, to the 45 cal.

Two of the Barnes bullets Knight lists are ONLY sold by Knight. A good one to try the the Barnes 300gr SOCOM TTSX bullet. Its a boat tail but seems to shoot pretty good in the Knight sabots. They sell that bullet in bulk 50 packs for about a buck a bullet. 475cal bullets are normally insanely priced even for the XTPs. Speer has a good 325gr that dont cost a fortune. 325gr FTX is almost always a winner and reasonable.

The great thing about the 52cal is the sabots fit good and they are tougher than...........Woodpecker lips. :D You probably wont phase that sabot with any load of BH209.

Has anyone shot the bloodline sabots that Knight offers?

I have used the Bloodline's with Knight supplied sabots. They worked very well for me. The Knight sabots were/have been contracted from MMP. Today I think there are also using some Harvester sabots.

I have shot several different 458 bullets in the Knight sabot.

I think a .52 Cal Would be an Awesome Muzzleloader :lewis: I would Cast Bullets for it if i had one. I thought pretty hard about a .52 at one time, But Since i already have Several .50s, and .54s, i Just Couldn’t Justify it.

I have NO DOUBT the Knight Rifle is Good, I think you would be hard pressed to find a Nicer Production in-line Muzzleloader than a Knight

If anyone is interested there is a disc extreme 52 on gun broker , one bid at 279, if I didn’t blow my load on the ultra lite i would probably bid on it. I want to do what dean did and chop one .the 3 I have now are fluted, don’t think it would work chopped.

When I met Knight employees at Friendship in 2013, I recall asking what calibers and twist they offered.. 45 1-30, 50 1:28, 52 1-26. I stated you’re going the wrong way with the twist..I’d like to try the 52 (fastest twist).
With the larger hole, it’s lighter than its cousins. Shot very well and I even won with it - both on paper and hunting.

That Ole Gal had a REALLY BAD day!! What an AWESOME looking Bullet Rick!! Looks VERY similar to the .50 Cal, Accurate Mold #50-488M, Except with a Hollow point
