Still no shipping confirmation and i was told they would ship again on the 11th. What a PITA!!!!! I would have bought the 30mm Viper HS for $49 more if i would have known or drove to the local Cabelas. I still might just because i can use another set of lows on my 33mm obj scope no problem. I just dont have to have them.

Turns out the public range that isnt over an hour away is closed for renovations AGAIN!!!
NOTICE: The Pistol and Rifle range is presently closed and we do not have a reopening date. We will advise when information is available.

Might have found a killer ring that covers all my bases for only $78. Need to find out where they are made first. Their bases are made in Italy

Contessa 1" low
True picatinny and dual cross bars
2 Torx for the base and 4 per ring
Just slighty taller than Vortex Pro lows

Yep made in Italy

After a close encounter with a bear, I put see-through rings on my rifle. They mounted directly to the holes on the barrel without a base. After using them, I can't see any reason for bases. I got Talley rings for my mountain rifle, and liked them enough that I put a set on my Contender carbine. Light and strong. A base just seems like extra weight and another screw to come loose.

Its all about mounting position, OAL of scope, mounting surfaces and eye relief needed.

A) I want my scope easily removable. It does not have to be quick release.
B) When you have 4-5" of eye relief very few mounting options work well other than a rail.
C) No one makes extended 2 piece bases any more for DISC type rifles.

I have a set of Talleys light weights on my NULA so im quite aware about them. They barely work with the scope i have on it because its short. Ive never had base screws come loose using loctite and this base is secured by 5 screws instead of 4. There is no base like it for under $118.

These rings look good, I don’t mind that 2 Screw Style if you plan to LEAVE the Scope on the Rifle :lewis: But for a Steady Diet of ON/OFF the Mounts like i was Doing with my Knight Mountaineer (Cleaning after Shooting Real Blackpowder) NOTHING beats STEEL RINGS, TO STEEL BASE/BASES, and a Cross Bolt running through the Rings for Simple, Reliable, Repeatable Torque. There is a Reason Nightforce uses this Setup, There is NOTHING BETTER MADE :lewis:

Contessa sells them in steel but its a nut not dual torx. Their top end rings are $200 a set with a level built in. So i would imagine they are making good stuff.

Yet Seekins uses dual torx too and you would have a hard time finding a bad review of them. ;)

I agree, I believe the dual Torx would be AWESOME if you plan to LEAVE THEM ON the Bases. My problem with them would be a Constant Diet of ON/OFF, I just don’t feel you will find a Better, more Reliable Setup than Nightforce, Leupold Mark 4 Style That use a 1/2 Nut Driver for Steady ON/OFF Use, They even Make Precision T Handle Pre-Set Torque Wrenches, 65 inch pounds for Leupold, 68 inch pounds Nightforce, Both of These Wrenches are made by Seekins and can be EXPENSIVE if you don’t Shop around. I believe if there were even the SLIGHTEST Benefit/Edge With the Dual Torx Style, Nightforce would be using them, BUT they don’t, So that means they are Poop ;) :p :D

Steiner uses them too :p

I just like the clean look and only need a single tool for everything scope related. My little Torx has 2 sizes on it so it fits it all and its the size of an allen wrench. Good for emergencies in case the scope/base has to come off to use the iron sights. Probably get the Wheeler inch pound driver next.

I think if you look up the milspec requirements for rings they have a max width and possibly has to be easily removed too. Dual cross bars might not be able to conform to the max width so the common option is that huge honking nut sticking out the side of the rings. :D vs this stylish flush drop dead sexy dual torx setup. :moon:

If Cabelas dont ship soon im checking with EuroOptics to make sure they got them in stock before i cancel the order. Those rings are $100 on Amazon.

I give ya Stylish, they are Sleek looking, But that’s it Buddy! The rest is PURE OLE you know what :p, If rings were like Hunting Dogs, When it came to RUGGED RELIABLE Performance, Yours would have to Stay on the Porch :D

Just called EuroOptics and they are in stock. $8ish to ship to me.

These guy’s have some pretty awesome Sales, i get emails on a Regular Basis from EuroOptics. I got my “whirling mass of water, especially one in which a force of suction operates, as a whirlpool” from them

I just had to use some Burris Signature Z rings with the Leupold dovetail on the front. I needed that as the current ring set would only shoot 9 inches high at 100 yards down as far as I could go. It has 380 clicks up/down and right/left. I had to use the 20 inserts and 10s I believe to get it close with the bore scope after I centered the reticle. Hopefully that will help.
I do like the fact that the nylon/plastic inserts seem to mar a scope less. Hopefully you find the type that work well for you.

Burris XTR Sig rings are now made in China and they want over $80 for them. They do work but i just cant bring myself to pay that sorta cash for Chinese made rings. Weaver Tactical 6 screw picatinny are half the price and made in the USA. No inserts but them are some pricey inserts. SWFA SS tactical rings have 30mm to 1" inserts and are also well under $40.

Biggest thing for me though is....Many dont offer a low and my rail is tall. Plus many of them are Weaver/Picatinny not just picatinny. Using mediums a 42mm obj is 1/2"+ above the barrel.

The SWFA SS lows are $35 a set and 1913-STD. Im just not so sure i want to trust those insert and they might be a tad wide for my application.

Called Cabelas AGAIN. Lady says they got some in late last week. I was told they would arrive at the warehouse around the 11th or 12th the last time i called. So they might get them out to me by this Wednesday. I ordered these suckers on the 21st after being told they would be shipping around the 27th.

Messed up part is the same rings at Bass Pro says not until Dec23 to Dec31 and that turd aint gunna float in this punch bowl. BP and Cabelas use the same distribution warehouse.

I like the looks of these! These Bad Boy’s could DEFINITELY Run with the BIG DOGS, No more Sitting on the Porch :D I’m not sure i like the inserts though?

If i knew what i know now i would have gotten a 30mm tube scope. There are way more options and they are IN STOCK too. :wall:

I could have gotten a Viper HS for $50 more than the DB HP during the MidwayUSA sale. I didnt because the plan was to use the scope on the Super DISC. BUT then some yahoo had to post the deal on the Mountaineer barrel. I would be done by now if i bought the Viper HS.

I know it can be FRUSTRATING, Today EVERYTHING is about BIGGER HEAVIER Scopes of 30-34MM, with fewer and fewer 1” Options. These Companies should keep in mind that NOT everyone plans to Shoot a Country Mile, and Could care LESS about it, Lot of Folks prefer Lighter Weight Setups. My Dad being a Good Example, He recently looked through my Nightforce, he sat and Studied/Admired the Scope REALLY good, was SHOCKED about it’s 2200 Dollar Price Tag. Dad handed the Rifle back over and Said “I wouldn’t have that thing if you gave it to me” SERIOUS as a Heart Attack!! I know my Dad WELL, He meant it ;) He has an Old Leupold 3X9 on his .300 Magnum, MANY MANY Bull Elk, a Few Big Bull Moose, and countless Deer over the years, All of this done on 4 Power, Even the 400 Yard Shots were Taken on 4 Power. He has NEVER felt under Scoped :)
