Those that know me know I’m on the NRA Black Powder Committee and on the NMLRA BOD. I’ve shot and won more matches than I know (and 2nd, 3rd, etc.). and have competed against the best - not only with in-lines, but traditional ML match rifles as well. I’ve personally held one the largest and longest running ML matches in the country for nearly a 1/4 century.

In the past week, I’ve called out 2 Admins on 2 Facebook groups for their degrading and deliberate attempt to continually divide the Muzzle Loading Community with their arrogant/ignorant attitude toward modern ML shooters who play within the NRA and NMLRA Rules.
If your on FB, you may wish to keep tabs as well and call them out when necessary. Be respectful, but make the aware.
Congrats to all Modern ML (in-line) and Traditional ML enthusiast who understand there is room for all to enjoy.

Outstanding post. Thank you. Kind regards & much respect.

I agree, we’re small enough already. For what I do, the modern in-line is fine, nothing wrong with other types.

Of course if hunting, one has to abide by State regulations.

Thank you !!!

Looks like the negative attitude toward Modern ML continued this week on this sites sister forum - The Muzzleloading Forum (traditional).
Sad the admins/owners over there don’t seem to correct the culprits - just stop commenting.

VERY SAD Deal!! I had my acct De-activated their sometime ago

People need to learn to RESPECT the Diversity in ML, There is Room for ALL forms of Muzzleloading, one is NOT Superior over the other! I love ALL forms of Muzzleloading, And have tinkered with just about every form of it (Except Flintlock) I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed ALL of it!! And Learned a Bunch along the Way. Anyone that knows me personally, and on these Sites, Knows My choice is Fast Twist Sidelocks, But that Doesn’t make them Better than Others, Just MY PERSONAL Preference.

There are a LOT of Good Folks in ML, EVERY Form of it. I have met some Darn good people Through it, Some lifelong Friends. Most recently Bestill Creations Jeff Fisk, What a GENUINE, down to Earth, FIRST CLASS Guy :lewis: One of These Days i would LOVE a Custom Built Rifle From Bestill, SMOKELESS that is :D

why not make trip to Friendship matches someday and meet him. Love to have you shoot, and you would see all the different types at once shooting for week

There will be 4 Bestill Customs , (2 unfired ,) appearing on gunbroker in the future . Keep an eye out there. Some fast twist Knights which we know you already experimented with also should show up once the Whites are finished :)

The funny part is you can bet your butt that crying traditionalist on a hunting board will be up a tree in his modern climber, wearing his hightech thermals, looking at his smart phone with GPS while he bawls his butt off about inlines on the forum. :p

I went and read that topic. How pathetic they must be to need a safe place free of any mention of inlines. Yet all the while a 451 Gibbs with a $60 platinum lined nipple shooting loads equal to a 45/70 are just fine. A sad bunch of hypocrites.

EXCELLENT POST GM54-120!!! You hit the nail SQUARELY on the Head my Friend :lewis:

You rarely see this attitude in reverse. While i have little interest in sidelocks i think some are super cool. Many are very pleasing to the eye as well. Always loved Sabotloader's Renny with the GM SS fast twist barrel on it. What a neat affordable sidelock.

You see the same attitude in Traditional archery vs Compound shooters, Ive done bother for a very long time and there are elitists on both sides but its getting to where the older trad guys are very bad about ragging on compounds/crossbows... It gets really old after awhile, while I'm not a crossbow guy if that's what you want to use then I respect that fact, does nothing but divide hunters to disrespect someones way of hunting, as long as its legal then I'm all for it, same for muzzleloaders.

only about 45 minutes from Cincinnati Airport

I own both sidelocks an inlines. Started out with my .54 Renegade in 1993, killed a spike buck an was hooked from then on. I really need to shoot that rifle again!! I love my inlines an they get the nod when ML seasons open. It's all fun no matter the weapon.
I joined the other side (sister site) an have posted a few times there, but just not my favorite place like this site is.

What topic is it? I haven't spent a lot of time there but do check ot out sometimes. Always wondered why they don't have an inline section?

I would rather not post it in the open forum. If you search topics where 52bore posted you will see it. Im not bashing that forum. Just the attitude of some of its members is a joke. Its like telling me a 6.5CM is not a real rifle because the 6.5x55 Swede did it 100years earlier.....Total nonsense.

I understand. And i probably shouldn't even go lookin for it. But sometimes i just like to hear other peoples opinions and thoughts, to understand their viewpoint some, if possible. "Know thy enemy", doesn't really apply, but you know what i mean.

Found it. Wow. When folks start throwing around words like "exclude them" and "blasphemy", AND get likes for it, i think it creates divisions instead of encouraging debate and idea sharing. I have a couple sidelock guns and don't feel blasphemous when shooting my inlines. Does that make me a bad person? My wife might argue that there are plenty of things that make me a bad person but that isn't one of them.
The poster did not make an attempt to explain his views, except to call inlines "a matter of taste, or lack of". That's just opinion, not reason.
It has been said about me that i have bad taste, tho. :bang::moon:
