Does anybody make a vent liner plug for the omega or encore?
My brother has an omega an I think I have finally convinced him to try blackhorn 209. He missed three deer in last week with T7 pellets and 295 powerbelts. (I know, been telling him) We are going to the range later this year an try out BH209 in his rifle which has the concave plug. I haven't seen any mention of a ventliner plug on here for Omega's so thought I'd ask.
Didn't see one on Lehigh website either....

Pour some BH 209 (I use 84 weighed grains) in it, load the bullet (I prefer Barnes 250 gr. T-EZ) and put a magnum primer (I use federal) in the breech plug. There is no need to modify anything on your Omega. Here’s some proof.

Wow! You have some nice deer there for sure. Yeah, I know it will shoot blackhorn as is with the concave plug, was just thinking ahead for easier cleanup for him. If no one makes a vent liner that's OK too...

I have not seen his breech plug, so can't say. He missed those deer due to the T7 pellets being weak (4 years old) the deer were not touched an just walked away wondering what happened...:(

The Omega plug is ideal for igniting Blackhorn powder as is; vent liner doesn't improve it. Internally, the Western Powders QRBP is virtually an exact copy of the Omega breech plug. Have installed vent liners in several Omega plugs; they work no better than the OEM plug.

Only if the flash hole is cooked . Why else ???

If you had one of the early Omega plugs adding a vent would be fine. They had almost no "dish" in them at all. They looked very similar to the pre 2010 CVA plug on the powder side.

Adding a vent to the newest style plug might make the flame channel even shorter than it needs to be.

His omega is an older one. My sister in law wanted my advise on which one to buy him for Christmas that year (forgot which) an I recommended the Omega which was new at the time for T/C. Wish I had listened to my own advise an got one too...
I need to see his plug before we hit the range for sure. Thanks!

AWESOME AWESOME and some more AWESOME. Iäve had 2 Omegas. I had zero complaints with them, ever. I shot a heck of a lot with them through about 12
yrs or so. I ended up after using all kinds of projectiles in my first Omega, believe it or not, 3-50gr pyrodex w/223gr aero tip powerbelt. I had a lot of os success at ranges 20 yards to over 200 yards. I did a lot of head & neck shots with both Omegas at ranges out to around 150 yards. When I read/hear ppl bashing the Omega & Power belts, I really don't get it. I can buy an Omega ( black w/blued barrel ) pretty cheap. What Id like to do is have a .32 cal barrel put on it that can handle BH-209. I want to be able to shoot 175gr .32 cal at 2800fps. For coyote, fox, ground hog, these damn armadillos down here, small game with 300 yd 1/2MOA: Is that possible? Does anyone know of someone that can make a barrel like that for the Omega? Thanks for the killer post & amazing pics. Kind regards

That's what I'm telling him all along. If when the plug gets worn out the vent liner is the only way to save the plug an still use it. The vent liner is the way to go too for cleaning especially and continued reliability.
I have two in my CVA Optima V2 rifle an pistol plugs it sure saves on grinding out the crusted residue when the solvent can soften it an wipe it without much hand drill use.

Not entirely sure in accuracy since I haven’t shot ost 50 yards with it yet but a 65 grain round ball in a sabot from my .45 is well above 2000 FPS even with lighter bh209 loads

It looks pretty tight in that sabot. I have seen them sold in .50. Not .45. Did you have to assembly those? Let me know how they shoot past 50 yards when/if you do.

They are a tight fit and at 50 yards I’m under an inch with 60 grains of bh209 from a 28” barrel omega.

Sabots were ordered right from mmp the round balls are a .35 from hornady. You can always use a pistol bullet or rifle bullet of the correct size..the .350 legend bullets would work in these sabots. I use them for plinking as they are cheap and it’s good trigger practice for my gf to get used to the gun. I am thinking of squirrel hunting with it. And gm is right on the money with Jeff’s new omega replacementugs they look awesome as I just seen them on his Facebook page this morning.
