We think much alike Mnt monkey. Townsend Whelen said only accurate guns are interesting. (Im thinking you know who he is) Same for bullets. If they aren't accurate they're not worth having. Accuracy I agree is the first and foremost criteria for a bullet. Put it in the right place and the animal is terminal. And I did use a hollow point in my 270 Winchester to kill my largest deer. A 12 point in Lake City Michigan. He did run his 100 yards but the blood train was quit sufficient.

But accuracy is up for interpretation. For my muzzle loader a tennis ball size group at 100 yards is sufficient. For elk hunting I wanted my 338 to hit tennis balls at 300 yards. For my 243 for groundhogs I need gulf balls at 300 yards. Thankfully there are enough bullet choices out there for a guy to keep looking for what he needs until he finds it. And yes, if it works price is not an issue.

I have a .35 Whelen. Quicker twist than the Remington choice for 250-300 grain bullets. Shot an elk on DIY hunt on Federal property north of Estes Park in Colorado with it. It a sweet caliber.

Since we're talking centerfire I'll pipe in.
I was spoiled with the performance of my Federal Fusion 165gr 30-06. 7 bucks dropped in their tracks. Seeking longer range (you may know why) and reduced recoil I bought a new 6.5CM bolt action. After sighting in with budget 140gr Rem Core-lokt got MOA groups, I tried a Fusion, all over the place. No choice but to hunt with the Core-loct. Very pleased when I hit a 5pt behind the shoulder, he knelt down and expired, never a step.
All bullets work if used correctly, just know your gun and bullet.

While we may have sidestepped the thread it does apply that if you have a bullet (no matter what bullet) that works for you use it. I like to shoot a lot so if I can shoot cheaper I will. But still have to be accurate. Sorry for doing a sidestep with this thread. Lets get back to our discussion of the Fury bullet.

It's hard for me to get away from the fury bullet,, I have 4 remage barrel nut smokeless rifles,, one shoulder build heavier barreled smokeless,, and a couple of CVA Accura has as well as a new 22 twist,,, if I had to choose one bullet that shot in every single rifle under an inch for me it would be the 250 grain fury star tip,,a couple of the rifles will absolutely shoot a hole with Pittman type bullets in a 300 grain weight but again I'm talking about an overall average of all the rifles in a single group if I had to pick one bullet that was consistent in every rifle for me so far it would be the fury, when I just look at that bullet I would never have guessed that, the sleek sharp Pittman ,Parker type bullets are beautiful , I shoot all of them I can afford,, maybe this Year I'll get around to shooting some cardboard or some water jugs,, I like to see those type of experiments,, but even more I like to see my bullets going in a hole,, I've shot four deer with the fury 250 star tip and numerous hogs,,shot a buck this year at 200 yards with the CVA mountain rifle square in the shoulder with the 250 star tip it destroyed that shoulder and exited in fragments on the other side I couldn't have been more happy with that,,if I can find a bullet that expands retains more weight and shoots as accurate I'll get on the bandwagon for that bullet to real quick,, I sure will keep trying every bullet I can I love to experiment, be,shooting the 250 star tips in the Paramount today everyone have a good morning and a good weekend

Here’s a group that I shot this morning at 100 yards at exactly 0 degrees Fahrenheit. I was using the Fury Star Tip 300 grain sized to .504 with a .060 LDPE wad, 92 grains (weight) of Blackhorn plus a 4.5 grain duplex of 4F Goex to light it up reliably in the cold. Primer was a Federal Match LRM thru a Gen 2 breech plug. I am just in the testing stage however I’m already impressed with the stability of the bullet out of my Remington UML. I have found that Dennis is a great person to do business with and both his service and product are world class. Almost can’t wait to try them out in the fall on deer and elk.

I have some of his fifties that I size for my 50 cal 1 and 28 twist the lighter bullet I forget what it was I think it was 275 it shot very good,, I may go back and shoot some more it was my CVA mountain rifle but that gun will take his 250 star tip 45 Cal in a Black Sabot and put it in a hole so it's hard for me to get away from that

Good shoot'n.

I can attest to the bullet's ability to put the smack down on a whitetail, straight down smack down, with the UF and 105grsW. Remarkable bullets both on game and target.
I might suggest that if you plan on shooting long range, I'd change to the ST2 bullet. For me, once the regular ST gets past 300yds accuracy/groups falter in the .50cals.
In my experience the Federal Match LRMP's, with the Gen2 and in a UF, it will ignite BH at that temp without a duplex.
