Sideshow, you make this sound absolute. Its not. I cater to the school of fixing the problem, not doing something to mask it is all. Cool your jets or you'll have a stroke. What you offer with this permatex might be the cat's meow, but you have to allow people to decide what and how they want to address the stuck plug issue in their own way. Sure....toss out your fix. Others have and then they let whoever do as they will. But to rant on about someone using an alternative is silly. The way you address this fix makes you sound as though anyone who doesn't use it is some sort of derelict that knows nothing about his guns. Damn, lighten up.

I'm done with the issue. I hope you are too.

My Final take on this.

In my opinion the Product “Permatex Thread Sealant With PTFE #80632” Definitely deserves a Place in “Product Review” The Stuff Works unlike anything else i have used, for me to be able to Remove a Nipple with my Fingers, after Shooting Blackpowder, that is Truly AMAZING! With actual Breech Plug/Nipple Thread Grease i have to Stay on the Nipple with a Wrench all the way out, to the last few threads. This Permatex #80632 is REALLY GOOD Stuff, it works!!

DON’T Take this Wrong Sideshow, I have already mentioned trying the Permatex ALONE, I really believe it would Work EXTREMELY Well on it’s own Without “Lapping in” the Breech Plug with Valve Grinding Compound

The part that I would be concerned about is the “Lapping in” a Breech Plug with Valve Grinding Compound, I know you are passionate about it, and i don’t doubt you a single bit that it works. But you have to Remember the Audience here, Not everyone is highly Skilled, Advanced in this Stuff, I just don’t see the “Lapping in” Part Being a Great idea for Somebody that is Brand new in this Stuff, They could do permanent Damage to their Rifle if they didn’t do it properly. There are LOTS of people that come on here and Read this Stuff that aren’t even Members, Who knows their Skill Level? Lots of NEW Folks that have Never even Shot a Muzzleloader, They come on to Read and Learn. I wouldn’t want someone coming on here and Saying “I made a mess out of my Brand New Rifle trying to Follow this Advice”

This...

That appears like that's all that can be comprehended anyway .

Don't agree...I think many of us can comprehend what you are saying. Just aren't as passionate as you are about it. I believe you have sufficiently stated your case here and in the other thread so no further explanations are really needed. Seems you continue to want to debate any naysayers so let's just see where the polling leads it.

I follow what you are saying sideshow and have known for some time that machine threads provide no seal whatsoever. I would give a vote for the sticky as it is helpful to many.

In a gunsmithing forum that i see is Also up on poll would actually be the perfect place for it .

As im an Engineer ( a hands on one) theres good reason ive opposed the naysayers . And im qualified enough to do so .

While the Permatex Thread Sealant actually WILL do the job all by itself for Black and Most subs its also a bit potentionally risky for a bh209 user to think his rifle is perfectly safe . Ive taken this stand for their own good whether that is realized or not . I have honored that commitment in Biblical proportions diligently by taking care of my brother as myself . Thats reason enough for ME .

I also Will Not Debate this further Solely in the interest of Peace .

That's good and I am going to hold you to this. You have sufficiently covered this in this thread as well as Stuck Breachplug Blues so let's let it ride and see what the poll says.

I'll discuss it with the other Admins

If its made a "sticky", please put a notation that those rifle owners with a Remington Ultimate or Ultimate Firearms rifle, should NEVER lap their plugs to the barrel.
It would immediately mess up the head space and possibly create significant costs to the owners.

Its in there already .

OK...We have discussed this and have decided to not make it a Sticky. We actually feel it is more of a product review. Thirty votes (17 for/13 against) is a very small amount of votes to represent making something a Sticky.

We also have decided that Polls will not determine whether a topic becomes a sticky. Should a member feel something should might be a sticky it can be presented to the Admins for consideration.

Why would you use a “thread sealant”?

I have this copper anti-seize lubricant that would seem to work better - although a bit gooey.

Actually no . There is no comparisan between the 2 products . The copper anti sieze allows the crud from the burnt powder to pack itself into the threads when the gun fires . With enough shots of many powders , especially Holy Black or T7 you end up with a stuck/siezed up plug .
The Permatex Thread Sealant #80632 PREVENTS that crud from EVER getting in tbere in the First Place .
No Comparison in Protection or Effectiveness for using on a breech plug or nipple . None........

There is a thread back in page 2 or 3 by now called "ENDS THE STUCK BREECH PLUG BLUES " . It will explain many things to you about WHY this happens in the first place . IF YOU TRY IT you will Realize i gave out a "Gold Nugget Tip" for this issue . As well as the True Fix whether you or a gunsmith is hired to REALLY FIX IT FOR GOOD . Nothing else can or does compare........:lewis:
