Have a buddy looking for a side hammer in 50 cal. Eastern hunting for deer. Told him I’d find one for him.

BH209 in a sidelock won't work. Won't even safely work in a plunger inline. A closed breech is required.
Thanks for that info. The BH 209 was just a thought, and as wild of a guy as I was in my younger days I'm not trying to blow off my already badly broken up limbs off doing something like that without finding out as much as I can about it first. This group really has been great to be a part of & super helpful. So is it worth it at all from a financially pragmatic perspective to buy a cheap Hawken .0 & sleeve it to .36 or just buy a remage barrel for it? Thanks again, kind regards

Hey there partner, Do some looking at my Small Bore Muzzleloader Build Threads, i call mine a .36 For Ease, But it’s Really a 9MM/.357 (.357-.358 Bore Diameter) There are some Negatives to Them! Especially in a Sidelock like i built, and Real Blackpowder. The Small Bores Build BIG Pressure, and are BRUTAL on Nipples. I had to go to an EXPENSIVE Platinum lined Nipple. Mine CHOKES Itself out with Fouling in 1 Shot, It will literally Plug up and Not allow the next Powder charge to Get in under the Nipple, I have to Remember to pop a Cap off Straight Through to “BREAK” The Crud Free from the Fire Channel/Patented Breech, then load, Otherwise it will Hang, or FAIL TO FIRE.

Mine is Accurate, and Fun to Shoot, But it’s a PITA Compared to my 45s!! If i were to do it again? I would NEVER think of going under .40 Cal for a Fast Twist Build, and even then i would be VERY Hesitant and probably end up going .45 Cal, This is if a Guy planned to Shoot Real Blackpowder Like Myself.

Not sure but does that barrel look like it has pitting in it?

No pitting! Pictures can be Deceiving at times. This Rifle has a REALLY NICE Bore :lewis: I just spoke with Jonathan, the Owner of the Rifle on Frontiermuzzleloading, He took a Few more Bore Pics, Here they are

What is a TC Hawken .50 in excellent condition worth nowadays? It was bought 35-40yrs ago, but it has only had maybe at the most 25 rounds thru it & kept in smoke free house/gun cabinet. A fam member has one for sale I think he's asking 300.00? He has a TC .50 Omega for sale w/Black synthetic stock w/blued barrel. Base model, but again, maybe shot 20 times so its excellent condition as well. It has some cheap scope on it that comes with it. IDK what brand, I just know its a 200.00 scope ( an educated guess ). I'm lookin for a BP percussion sidelock myself to hunt, target/maybe compete/hunt/plink with but I'm still not settled on a specific cal. or Ky/Pa style or Pedersoli Missouri River Hawken .45 or a Mortimer Whitworth or Target model. I'm also considering a .36 cal. Kind regards all
