I just shipped a boxed gun case to Idaho. Cost was 61.00. The clerk at USPS said prices had just gone up again. Just letting anyone who cares know that you should check your shipping costs be fore you do deals. If not someone might be disappointed. Just putting it out there.
Holy Smokes !!! Theyve lost their minds !!! What about UPS or FED-EX ?? Well thanks Fishhawk2700 for the heads up ......

Last week I sent a 6 lb. double barrel Pedersoli shotgun from New Orleans to LaPorte TX via USPS. Cost $36.10 with $950 insurance. I removed the barrel from the stock so the package was about half the length required for a fully assembled gun. Shipping cost was $15.65, insurance was $20.45.

Yep. I got a surprise when Sabotloader shipped me a Renegade from Idaho to here in Maryland. It was just shy of $55.00. Not complaining, just surprised. Of course that included insurance. Last time I shipped a gun was with UPS. Cost was under $30 with insurance. However that was a few years back.
Had the wife pick me up a 100 count roll of stamps at the post office last week. Cost was $55.00. Last roll I bought before that was only $49.
Yep, shipping costs have really gone up.

I would hate that cost too but in comparison I sent a shoe box of photos without insurance at the lowest rate and it was nearly $20 at USPS last week.

Cost of a stamp in Canada, through Canadapost, which is a private company, is 1.07 for a standard letter with up to 5 sheets of paper in it. A standard letter with up to 9 sheets of paper is 1.30 per stamp. .55 a stamp through USPS is a bargain. Think about it. A stamp/postage in European countries is even more expensive.

Well its all a reflection of how weak the dollar has become . Its taken decades to end up here . In comparison to many things USPS rates just simply must keep up too . Wish it was that easy for us .

I bought a sidelock that weighed 8lbs. He sent it assembled and by FedEx. It cost me $54.

I sent it back to him. I broke it down and used a smaller box. I sent it by the PO. It cost me $22.

He was in Wyoming. I'm in central Colorado.

I just sent a package to Luke from Indianapolis to AZ and it cost $24 for a 6lb box that was 30x4x4 and that’s with 1k in insurance through Fedex. Last time I sent the same box and weight with 1k insurance was in November and sent it through USPS and it was $36.
I read an article the other day that said once you go over two pounds that you really need to look at FedEx and UPS because they’re usually much cheaper than USPS.

I just showed that's not true. Same gun going back to the same address. The size of the box didn't really matter because the woman at the PO never measured the box. She just weighed it.

FedEx....$54

PO...$22

I sent a package to Europe a couple of months ago. I got two estimates.

Fedex...$92

PO....$42

I wouldn't use FedEx to ship a box of rocks. I used to use them until I had a rifle get smashed/bent and not a month later, had one stolen out of the box. It took forever to get my money out of them.
As for UPS, I have to drive 18 mi to a service center. Our little hub where I live is only open to the public for 90 min late in the afternoon. Don't even try a UPS Store. They will not take anything firearms related. Tried to use them to send a scope to Leupold. They wouldn't take it.

Hate to point out the issue with your statement but you didn’t “show” anything, you made a statement! You also stated that you broke it down to fit in a smaller box and just because USPS didn’t measure it, doesn’t mean that Fedex didn’t measure the box, for him. I also know my local post office, measures every box I drop off. But either way This is “showing” what you said is NOT true in my case! $41 with USPS and $26 with Fedex. So it appears that USPS is even a lot more, now.. It’s been the same with my last several shipments over the two pounds the article stated. Sometimes by just a couple bucks but other by a huge amount.05ADF18A-DBF5-4129-A50F-75AE77CDF151.png021CD233-A56A-4544-BF76-DB83B4B55D40.jpegCF3326C4-13F5-456C-91F1-4DE8F0A85408.jpeg
