Where'd you find that 52?
It was posted on here at the first of the year that it was listed on Armslist.
Rugerbh103 made the post - so credit goes to him.
After a day and no one showed interest, I contacted the owner via email/Armslist. He was gracious to hold it for me for a month + as I sent him the $$$. Everything worked out - there are still a lot of good people out there in the shooting/ML world..

Great story !!!

Yep, 120gr max load. If you look at Hodgdons load data 120gr is max for 54cals.

TB got one of the first 54-120s i ever saw. His review was spot on about the rifle although he neglected the 54x50 sabot loads mostly. Mine shoots great with the MMP/Barnes 54x50 sabots. Shoots great with the Harvester 54x45 sabots and a Barnes 458SOCOM bullet too. Man does that one load tight but its freakishly accurate.
Looks like GM54's 54-120 and my old knight both liked being loaded up pretty hot with powder charges . Mine liked a hot load best no matter if sabots or conicals . I dont know if thats how a 54 is or just how mine / his liked it . Best deer slayer ive Ever known though in a mz !!!. They'd give up the ghost Real quick !!!!!!! Smash the hell outa bones too !!!! I LOVED my Bazooka !!!!!!!

I will tell you this though , with a 54 loaded hot and with a heavy bullet youre gonna Want a Kick-eze recoil pad on it !!!!!! Nothing is better for tameing wallop !!! Got them ALL out classed !!!! Thats a gold nugget right there !!! :thumb:

Glad you got it. Happy to see it with someone who appreciates what it is.

Might as well continue the series..
In order to save some time, I’ll have Tom @ Accurate make the mold - I’ll still have to modify it for the HP.
I’m guessing I’ll end up with a 525gr or so of pure lead.

My series I’ve made and Accurate has copied 45/350, 50/475, 52/500

Just had to cast a few... I’ll HP the mold, guess I’ll target 540gr for this .54.
Measures .541” at base and middle band.
0.543” at top band.
Have no idea what this bore is going to be? I can always make a sizer if needed.

Remember, it’s still 250gr lighter than my 12b. lol

Beautiful! I'm thinking those would be a nice match for my .54 Mk-85... 540gr w/ a hollow point, ker-splat! :D

That’s a Good looking bullet Rick!! I bet you are good on Size, My Green Mountain LRH 1:28 .54 Cal is .540 “Slip Fit” like i prefer my Target Loads, a .541 Grabs Enough to Hold The Bore. My Lyman Great Plains 1:32 Twist “Hunter” Model Rifle in .54 Cal has a Large Bore, it is like .543.5 to .544

I used to shoot 650 and 600 out of my knight 50 , 1-24 twist

This is my 1st venture with a 54.
I think the 1:26 twist (same as the Knight 52) can probably handle nearly anything.
Now to wait until next week..

I too like the German Post. I have one on a custom CF rifle, I believe it’s a #4. Don’t know why mfg don’t see what we see in them. Then again they don’t see a lot of things. lol

My very first Scoped Rifle (i was 15 years Old) had a Post Reticle, I killed a Nice 5 Pt Bull Elk with it that year, and A few Deer over the Years i had it. I really liked the Post Reticle

I have no doubt that Bullet you have will Shoot Good for Ya. But Like i said Before, If you decide you would like to Tinker around and Try Some of these .54s i have, I will Gladly Pour you up Some of Everything i have, or Send you the Molds and you can do it :lewis: I can adjust These Paper Patch Bullets i have to ANY Diameter you could Possibly need, With Sizers i have on Hand, and Several Different Paper thicknesses I now Have. I know i can Finish size anywhere from .537-.538 Smallest Diameter, up to .544, and Everything in between.

Minox used to sell a ZA5 1.5x8x32 with a German #4 reticle....Very hard to find one now but those are really good scopes. My Razor has the HSR-4 reticle but the G4 is offered in the 2x10 also. They got a new line of HD LH scopes coming out soon but thats all i know about them.

This is their HSR-4. Its not bad really but i would have really like a regular #4 much better

Mine hardly changes at all on a 2x10. Its so small i cant detect any difference. My Redfield changed from 3.7 to 4.2 when going from 7x high to 2x low mag. Lots of upper end scopes change very little.
