With the temps reaching the low 40's, abundant sunshine and with 10-12mph winds, it sure was nice to get on the bench. Still had to deal with some mud around the bench.

Anyway, I was sent a couple different style bullets to shoot at production charges. I shot three of the different bullets and will shoot the 275 ST2 with the plastic tips another day.

ALL bullets were shot with 84grs WEIGHT of BH209 using a .060" veggie wad. Seated with a "thump"
Bullets were sized in a CLEAN bore at 15#.
3 Sessions marked 1,2,3

I shot all three bullets, the 250, 300 and 265 (.453") at a single target. I made no scope adjustments, just shot them for a group.
Its been awhile since any extended shooting, actually last late summer. Well short of a few prior to hunting and a couple setting the zero on the scope after moving it forward. Nice getting back on the bench :)

Up first was the 250gr plastic tip. I did NOT foul the barrel, not even with just a module. Just loaded and shot. This bullet shot very well. 10 rounds.

Next up was the 300gr lead tip. This bullet had a vertical string, for which I can only speculate was the charge. Varying it would eliminate the vertical stringing. No sense shooting any more than 5 until I work up a different charge.

Next up was the prototype. I was only sent 2 of these bullets. From the looks of the group, I wish I'd have had 10 ;)

Sure was nice getting back on the bench and start knocking off the rust. Having fun. Its what its all about.

I asked fury bullets if they would make me a 265 in 453 I've got some prototypes on the way too, it seemed like the answer for the Paramount's bore,I'm excited to see your results that's why I'm curious what rifle you were shooting them in

Again you make a case for my desert-island bullet yes that's the 250 fury, and I'm jealous you shot that 265 before me

I'm out of wool wads or I would be hammering on the Paramount this weekend

The bullets were all smooth sized to and shot from my Bestill, Rock Creek 1:19 - 45cal.

I used 84grsW, which is what I'll shoot from now until late spring, just in case I can make Bob's match. Myself, I've never tried a wool wad, only the .060" veggie, but the veggie has worked very well for anything I've shot to date. I was sent some poly wads by a member that I may try in the near future.

As for the vertical string with the lead tip, dropping the charge down to 80grs, or even 75grs would most likely bring that to group.

As already mentioned, I wish I'd have had 10 of the prototype bullets. I know just 2 rounds doesn't tell everything, but that bullet, with that charge will shoot from my rifle.

Hey thank you for more details I'm very excited, I have a Wilson 450-457 barrel that's going to like those bullets too,,I believe that the 265 having a thinner jacket is going to perform very well at blackhorn speeds, I had such success with the 250 star tip in my Paramount it was just borderline though for my bore size, this 453 is going to allow me to size perfectly I believe I can't wait thank you again

I'm also staying at 84 gr in my Paramount just in case I can find the right bullet and get it to start shooting a hole consistently I think I'm on the right path, I think the Paramount just needs more bullets build to its bore size.

:) You're welcome.

I had a lot of fun yesterday. Been awhile since I could send more than just a couple rounds in a session. Knock on wood..... but health issues have leveled off, short of the knee issue, so I'm hoping to get back into longer sessions. I won't be able to get to the 600yd range at the club until the road dries completely, but 100 is better than nothing ;)
I need to settle on one bullet, eliminate the rear rest and learn the new bipod.
