Oh No !!! Those shoulder injuries are Terrible !!! If i may --- ligatend by country life , bone broth protein by ancient nutrition , all the eggs you can eat , and a good anti-oxidant from a health food store are your best friends for now !!! Been There Done That a few times...... Good Luck !!!
When able work that range of motion too. Hurts but is So Important !!!
Thanks Sideshow, I will look into some of your remedies.

AWESOME Deal on the Blued Barrel!! You won’t Regret buying it! In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me a BIT if it edges out the Stainless Barrel, My Blued Barrels are the Most Accurate Barrels i own. My Old Stainless Barrel was GOOD when i had everything Right, But 1 Duck gets slightly out of the Row and it Would Act up (Lead Hardness) Remember me telling you that i knew EXACTLY how to make that Stainless Barrel Shoot To it’s Potential? I meant that!!

My Blued GM LRH Barrels aren’t like that, They will shoot Soft or Hard Lead EQUALLY well. My Blued .50 LRH is one of TOP DOGS in the Stable, i would put that Rifle up against ANYTHING

Be CAREFUL With that Shoulder!! Don’t try it to Soon, Let that it FULLY HEAL! Curious what you had done? I have had a Rotator Cuff, Mine was actually called an Acromioplasty or Something like that? That sucker was PAINFUL! Hang in there and take care of that HJ!!
Once you mentioned TOTW had those barrels I just had to have one. Will be selling one of my Pro Hunter shotgun barrels to fund the new purchase. (always good to have surplus hardware to help fund new builds)
Track of Wolf order confirmation has it as a 28'' long barrel, but shipping confirmation shows it as 32'' barrel. Guess I will know for sure once it arrives.LOL
As for the shoulder. I had rotator cuff and bicep surgery. I flipped my 4 wheeler/quad on the side of the mountain this past September. Pain got worse as time went on. Would wake me up at night and started causing me excessive sleep loss. Ended up getting MRI. Showed three tears in rotator cuff, one tear in deltoid and two tears in the bicep. Doc said surgery went well. Tylenol, ice packs and Advil have been my best friends the past couple of days. Hoping to steer clear of the oxycontin prescription they gave me.(so far, so good) Not a big fan of narcotic pain killers in my body. Doc said it should take about a year for full recovery along with physical therapy. Hoping to get back to work in about 4-6 weeks. After that I will see about getting back to shooting my bow and guns.

CeraKote is awesome and inexpensive. One of my Knight SS DISCs are cerakoted OD green and its awesome. Won't come off tho. If i was unsure about a finish i would look at camo wraps like Semisane said. I've put Gunskinz on my shotgun, levergun, and a pistol. Durable, cheap, easy to apply yourself, easy to remove.

Yeah, if and when I do use it to hunt with I will cover up with some type of temporary camo covering.

One year i got up to go deer hunting and found it had snowed overnight. Since i was running late as usual, I grabbed a couple old white cotton knee sox and the white first aid tape and did a real quick snow camo job on my cva. My buddies laughed so hard when i showed up. But next day two of them had bought some of the winter camo gun tape.

Gaffer Tape!

I once served with a Slurpee (Student Loan Repayment Program Enlistee) who, pre-Army, had been a roadie for some rock music touring acts. He had a BA in Theater with concentration in Technology, if I'm recalling his credentials correctly. You might wonder what practical use that diploma would have in the Army, but he had some very respectable fieldcraft skills stemming from his previous career pursuits - including rappelling, setting up anything resembling scaffolding or framing like packable gear racks, tent frames from mismatched/broken parts, and any time we had to put 50 pounds of crap in a 20 pound sack or 100 cubic feet of gear into a 50 cube space in a vehicle - which was all the time. This guy could do stuff in cramped spaces, up high, in the dark and cold rain with a penlight in his mouth that I often struggled with on the ground in warm, dry daylight.

I could put him in charge of getting 2,000 cubic feet of stuff packed for deployment into our 20 foot MILVAN (1,200 cubic feet) and give him the whole day with 1 or 2 other Joes to help him do it, and he'd come back 3 hours later and ask what else we could put in the extra space! That, and he'd have the packing list, load plan, and customs forms (when needed) properly filled out and signed by the right people. That's a dang handy guy to have on your team when your mission requires taking a lot of gear downrange. Needless to say, I may have had rank on him, but he was someone I made a point of listening to when it came to taking our show on the road.

I realize that has about nothing to do with temporarily camouflaging a rifle, but now that I've scratched an old itch to share a memory before it fades, let me tie it into the current discussion:

I had always been a 100MPH Tape cover-up guy before hearing that young Soldier's roadie tales endlessly extolling the virtues of Gaffer Tape, but since our short acquaintance I've kept it around to cover stuff I wanted to protect without leaving gooey adhesive residue behind. It sometimes needs a little help on top of it from something like electrical or Gorilla Tape to stay on but it still makes an awesome base layer to protect pretty gunstocks, polished bluing, scope tubes & bells, etc. And unlike 100MPH tape, you won't spend an hour with Goo Gone, oil soap, or denatured alcohol and a ScotchBrite pad getting the goo off of your gear when you're done with it.

New barrel from Track of the Wolf showed up Tuesday. Everything seems to look and fit pretty well. Will need to change out ram rod for sure. Had to order ram rod retaining spring. (They don't come standard with GM Barrels apparently) Also ordered new blue ram rod thimble with swivel stud.
Only thing that surprised me is that GMB logo and caliber engraving are on the bottom flat. Can't see them unless you take barrel out of the stock. Oh well. Looking forward to testing it out after my shoulder and arm heal.

The new Blued Barrel does say LRH on it right? I can’t tell for sure from the pics? It is the Exact same Length as the Stainless Barrel isn’t it?

Yes, it does read LRH. The new blued barrel is 28''. The stainless barrel is 28 7/8''

That Barrel should shoot LIGHTS OUT Good, I would bet on it :lewis: If that were mine, i would Follow the “Lee Shaver Barrel Break in” Thread i started. I have done that to EVERY SINGLE Barrel i own, And i do it Before i ever Shoot the Rifle. So far that process has yet to Fail me, My Safe has Grown to the Rafters with Sidelocks That Shoot MOA, It works!

Here it is. Lee is a 2 Time World Champion, along with NUMEROUS other Records/Titles, The Man Knows What He’s doing :lewis:

If you want a shooter plus a rifle that its bore stays clean and unleaded this is what to do . It just plain works !!! Ive even done this on a used gun and its helped Some !!!! There is NO WAY id skip this step Especially on a new barrel !!! Lewis is once again Right on the Money with fine , fine advice . Polish it up afterwards with jb bore paste is great too . You can even go a step further with a patch with rouge if you like . But what Lewis offered is the Big deal to do !!!

I know it doesn't hurt anything! The Muzzleloaders that i Shoot a LOT will ALL Shoot MOA EASILY, Most of my Rifles will Shoot Much better than that even, as long as i do my part of Course. I won’t keep a Rifle that Won’t Shoot 100 Yard MOA, If they don’t Shoot Really well, they aren’t allowed to Stay here, I make NO EXCEPTIONS to that! EVERY SINGLE one of my Rifles have had this “Lee Shaver’s Barrel Break in” Method done to them.

I remember when you originally posted this technique. I will give it a try followed by some bore paste.

How many strokes before you change patches?

Do you pull the jag completely out of the muzzle between strokes or just pull to the end of the muzzle then push back down?

Is this technique safe on the stainless barrels as well?

60-80 Strokes is plenty on a Brand New Barrel. I have gone as much as 200, It just polishes them up like a HIGH END Coin. As Lee speaks in his Article, You want the Fit to be TIGHT, The tighter the Better! 1 stroke is all the way to the Breech Plug til the Rod STOPS, then back out til the Rod CLEARS the Muzzle. As you feel it start to get loose, ad a Bit more 0000 Steel Wool to Tighten Back up. I use Montana Extreme Bore Polish Through This procedure (Probably the Same as JB Bore Paste?

This was a Brand New 32” Green Mountain Roundball Barrel i did last

I did the above before EVER FIRING the First Shot, As you can see here it didn’t hurt anything, The EXACT Same as EVERY SINGLE Bullet Barrel i own, they have ALL had this treatment, BEFORE they ever made their First Trip to the Range. And EVERY Bullet Barrel i own will EASILY Shoot MOA, and Much better in my Cases
