Since I lost my deer lease up north I figured why not put the extra energy into a new stand on the family farm in SW MN. My current stand down there is 12' up on telephone poles we built 15 years ago. It doesn't have a roof so the rain/wind/snow/sun have pretty much destroyed it. I am building a new box blind to go up on those poles. Got all the framing done last night. It separates into 4 sections to haul it down there. I always have 2 kids with me so I built it 6x8" so we have plenty of room. Sliding windows, heater, shelves, the works! Now watch it will be 70 and sunny for hunting season lol.

I put an old rear bench seat from a SUV in our old stand. Plus 2 chairs, a pee bucket and a big buddy with a 20lb cylinder conversion. A big buddy will keep it toasty warm even with minimal insulation. Line it with that pink or blue Styrofoam sheeting and it will be an oven. You will only be able to run 1 of the burners.

Very nice! I do the same. And sleep well. Be sure to bring a towel for condensation. Let us know how it works out.

Between the metal roofing and plywood you might want to use something like a tar paper too. It will help seal nail holes and protect the wood even more. Probably the same stuff you would use under shingles.

I spray that non-expanding foam in the ends of the metal to keep moisture and bugs out too.

I get sheets on this SUPER tough material used for flat roofs. I can look up the name. A friend with a roofing company uses it. Our garage roof is covered by it and nothing else. It does require an adhesive but otherwise its easy to work with.

Treat the application of the roof to your tree stand enclosure/shack, in the EXACT SAME WAY that you would the roof of ANY house/home that you would LIVE IN. Do this and the roof will last for decades. Fail to do so, like I did with a peaked shed roof once, and the eaves/soffits will be rotted out in less than 10 years.

I put 2 feet of overhang all the way around. Put sheets of OSB between you and the metal roof. A heavy rain gets real noisy. I also have some reading material, binoculars, and I see the pee bucket is already included. I do have a premium chair and its worth every penny.

Just put 11 hours in... we did good. I’ll try and post pics later. Service her is spotty so it might be tomorrow for pics.

Here is the old stand the way it’s been for 15 seasons. Started by removing the old walls. Then grabbed the chainsaw and cut the poles off floor level.

Then added a 2’ extension on the east side. Built a staircase and put up the frame I built in the garage. Used the cut off pole sections as extra support for the stairs.
