    Help working up loads.

In my experience with several Knights, a 250 -300 grain projectile with 90-110 of T7 will provide pretty good results. 2-3" groups at 100 yards is the range I'm talking about. Crushed Ribs are usually the best but sometimes the regular Harvester Long Blacks are better. I know others use...

One lug screw. It would be compatible with the Extreme Series I believe.

I'd consider the LRH a Stand / Blind gun. It's big but I know they shoot great.

Hi Folks, I’ve been quiet as of late. I’ve had to sit out a hunting season due to surgery. I should be GTG for next year and I look forward working on my loads. I decided it was time to pull some old purchases out of storage and put them in my office for a while. Knight fans will recognize...

    DISTANCE SURVEY:

This would really vary. Last years Whitetail was 312 yards, After practicing all year for a 300 yard MZ Elk shot, 312 with my Sako 7MM Weatherby was not a difficult shot. ( the supposid 300 yard elk was shot at 85 yards ) I grew up hunting in Western SD and now hunt Western KS. We didn't...

How accurate is this gun suppose to be??

1-2” groups at 100 are routine. You can do better if you work on it but these aren’t necessarily tight group shooting guns.

    Speer deepcurl 300 grain recommendations

Personally, I like Harvester Sabots because I can buy them at Graf & Sons and get a fair price and cheap shipping. I have the 3 different 50 / 45s on hand at all times. Generally speaking, the CR is for TC rifles ( tight barrels ) and the long smooth black works best for other rifles. I’d...

Elk with heavy lead conical at 405

Shooting at 405 takes a good system and lots of practice. The terminal result doesn’t surprise me. Those Bullets are impressive.

What is your favorite weight no excues conical for elk?

I would suggest the 495s. Bigger the better. I know some shoot BH 209 with conical. The concern is that it won’t ignite without a tight load. Best to go with T7 ad not worry about a F2F. That’s my two bits.

    Iron sight help

There are some real experts on here who can help out shooting open sights but if your sure you had a repeatable hold on the target, it may be a load issue. The MK should do better than 3” a 50 yards.

    Iron sight help

One, do we know how the gun will shoot with a scope? Is the 3 inch group the load / gun or you? Two, are you using the Pumpkin on a stick system? I’m no expert but iron sight marksmanship takes much more practice than scoped shooting. I’d stay at it and refine your marksmanship skills.

    BH209 Static Cling

Dryer sheets once a year or so has always worked for me. I use Lanes Tubes and TC ClearView to load. I bet it has something to do with humidity or other environmental issues.

300 grain Hornady XTP BallisticGel Test

Hi Folks. Digging up an old thread is fine with me. I was shoot the .452 in a sabot. Remember, my goal here was to see how they would do at lower end speeds. They did great and I think they are a fine option in either diameter.

Day at the range, couple questions

Ballistic tops falling off? Do you have an appropriate loading jag? That should not happen but if you have a flat top or shallow jag, it may happen.

How many shots before accuracy loss

I believe it’s a T7 with a 209 primer issue. I still use T7 but I don’t expect a 2nd shot if I’m using sabots. Actually, I’ll only use it at the range with sabots where I can reasonably swab between shots. I will use it for hunting if Im shooting conicals.

How many shots before accuracy loss

I’m not doubting the above statement but we sure have different results. I use T7 3F and Winchester 209 Primers. I crud up significantly with a single shot. If I tried to load 4-5 shots, on the 2nd or 3rd my load would be jammed up about 3” off the breech plug. I do use Birchwood Casey...
