Does anyone here have one of the new Garmin chronographs and have tested it with muzzleloader shooting sabots?
I'm interested to know if it measures the bullet speed and not the shed sabot?
Thanks!
Call Kibler's and ask them. For the Ketland (Southern Mountain Rifle lock) lock the flints are 3/4" wide and 7/8" long. I ordered some from Stonewall and what I got was a close match to the flint that came in my Kibler lock for the SMR rifle.
My set up uses a Bestill plug and a Knight FPJ bolt and a bare primer adapter (probably a Lehigh adapter).
Jeff took a little off the front of the adapter to make it work with his plug. Fired primers can be a bit sticky.
In order to answer the question about upgrades, we would need to know how the gun is set up now.
What breech plug does it have now? what are you using for ignition? What powder can you get to use in your gun?
Best of luck this fall!
Idahoron has shot this bullet in the past in his "hotrod hawken" rifles and killed elk and deer. He paper patched them and then sized them to his barrel I believe.
I have some RWS musket caps without the "wings" that look identical to the ones in the tin on the right in your photo. In my opinion if those are RWS caps, they are superior to the CCI ones.
