    Birdseye Maple

Be very careful. Gun refinishes can be addictive.

Welcome from Pierce County, just south of you and only slightly better.

    58 caliber Smoothbore Question

Lots of testing left to do for sure. This was the first time ever firing the gun after completing the build. Hopfully I will get a nice calm day to go out and start working on finding out what she really likes. I was pleased with the pattern though for a first attempt.

    58 caliber Smoothbore Question

Here are a couple test fire patterns with my 58 cal/24 ga. This barrel has had a jug choke operation preformed. 25 yards 75 grains of 3F Goex. The unmarked pattern was shot with 1 1/8 oz #4 lead the wad stack was 1 wool wad shot topped with another wool wad.

    WANTED/ISO .501 sizing die

No probablys about it. They are just the ticket. Also you can easily open one up to customize your bullet fit.

Couple of shot patterns at 25 yards.

    Kibler Colonial finished

Got a chance to break her in. 30 yards off the bench and one off hand.

    Kibler Colonial finished

I’m hoping to take it out for a turkey hunt. A buddy hunt’s everything with a longbow so I like to keep it on the traditional side while out with him. I have supplies coming. Hopefully I’ll get a good pattern in the 25 yard range.

    Accurate 52-510M

I agree with kingwalter. I’m pretty sure the “M” in the 52-510M stands for muzzleloader? Anyhow, I have a very similar design for a 50 cal muzzleloader and it shoots lights out so that was my thought process. That extra 30 grains, well that’s just overkill 😂

    Kibler Colonial finished

Been working on this on and off for a couple months. Got her finished out this afternoon. 58 cal smooth bore. I sent the barrel to a gunsmith in Kansas for a jug choke prior to starting. Pretty plain maple with a few areas with some character. This kit was off the quick sale rack from Kibler. It...

I posted in a different thread. Figured I better show results here.

What muzzleloading stuff did you do today?

When I got my Colonial kit, I opened it to make sure all was there and ok. Sealed it back up and didn't touch it for about 6 months. It's now all but finished. Just waiting for the finish to cure out and put it together. It was fun, sometimes scary and sometimes frustrating but slow and steady...

What muzzleloading stuff did you do today?

Test run of the Accurate mold 52-510M. 100 yards Knight DE 52 cal. Williams peep factory front. 80 grains Swiss 1.5 fg 1 54 cal wool wad bullet lubed with Bullshop NASA /thinned with Stihl synthetic oil. The 80 grain load was accurate. I tried bumping up to 90 and they grouped but about 4...

Kibler Southern Mountain beginning to build

I read your post about the "select" maple. That things gonna look like a bengal tiger! In one of Kiblers videos, I think it was his "trust us" video he mentions a heat gun.. not hair drier :) I've used the wipe on poly on an under hammer build and a Remington Rolling Block re-stock. I like it...

Kibler Southern Mountain beginning to build

Here are a series of photos from application of the iron nitrate to the blushing to finishing. Sugar maple pretty plain.

Kibler Southern Mountain beginning to build

I would suggest trading from the hair drier to a good heat gun. I just blushed my maple colonial using my heat gun on low. Not sure if a hair drier would have turned the iron nitrate?

    Accurate 52-510M

Oh stop it :) Those are ladle poured bullets. All in the wrist LOL.

    Accurate 52-510M

With 1-40 lead from Rotometals they measured out at .522 and the 5 random bullets weighed 510.2-510.7 grains. Pretty nice mold. About a 3 week turnaround from ordering.

    Accurate 52-510M

First run with the new mold. Not bad for a break in session. Gotta cool down so I can get a weight and size.

    C.C. LTD/Ron Paull Built .50

Sure looks purdy. Nice score. There’s a contemporary Longrifle collecting section on American Longrifle forums. Maybe someone over there would be able to give more info about the origins? Just a thought.
