The undersized bores were the .50's My 45 cal handles 45-70 bullets

Any prior cross-theading of nipple installation likely a contributor to such an event. Generally a novice's experience... but it happens.

It struck me while reading this thread, that Fred Rodney of Gonic Arms made his 45 cal. GA-90 barrels with a 1:22" twist. It's a shame he's gone. Perhaps he was on to something?

I cut my teeth with a Sheridan 5mm but stumbled upon a Beeman R9 in 20 cal. a couple years back and am really impressed with it's performance and accuracy. You guys look like I've gotta pay attention here and learn from your experience. Thanks for sharing!

I like to use full bore bullets whenever possible. Would love to find one of the original sizing tools that Fred included with his early rifles. My GA-90 in 45 cal doesn't have any problems using 45 cal bullets up to .458
