    Lyman 57 SMET Accuracy question

Maybe to clarify, my sight doesn't "move" but if I grab it and test the tightness, it has a tiny bit of "play". Not permanent movement but it seems the slider isn't totally rigid.

    Lyman 57 SMET Accuracy question

Attached is the best 200 yd. 3 shot group with open sights I've ever had. Only problem is my groups at 100 are not even close to this. Maybe 3 inches apart which is OK but not what I'd hoped for. I'm thinking I just got lucky at 200, 3 times. (shooting 90 gr. Pyrodex P and 460 gr. bullshop...

    Bullet tumbling???

Thanks El Diablo, looks like you get 100 for about 1/2 the price of 1000 so I might just be better off getting 1000 as I'd likely want maybe 2-300. Not sure of any difference between the vegetable wads vs. wool?

    Bullet tumbling???

For wads, I found a bag that someone sent me from Circle Fly Wads some time ago. I tried them yesterday, although not with the White bullets I was having the tumbling issue with. I was wanting to start using them for any bullets I shoot. Problem is I only found one place that sells them and...

    Bullet tumbling???

Final thoughts. My White bullets are listed as .503 and have the original blue lube on them. No idea how old they are but guessing the lube has shrunk a little being in a dryer climate like CO so perhaps they are "substandard". My Bullshops are listed as .504 but I don't think that small...

Sorry if they are not oriented correctly!

    Bullet tumbling???

Hmmm. The 4 shots before look to be perfect holes. Fyi, the higher hitting group of 2 at 100 (shots 3 and 4) is due to the sights not being adjusted as I was initially interested in how they group before I move the sights. The group at 50 were also higher so I'm certain the rear sight just...

    Bullet tumbling???

Loading was quite easy and felt relatively consistent. I didn't notice any difference between the 2 bullet types.

    Bullet tumbling???

So I shot my White Ultra Mag today, shooting some Bullshops 460 gr. with 95 gr. Pyrodex P. Shot at 50 and 100 and things looked OK. So I tried some of the White Power Punch 460 gr. conicals and they shot OK as well, but not as good a group as the Bullshops. So I decided to shoot my Super 91...

Boyds custom stock if your interested

If you look back at earlier postings on this thread, you'll see you are not alone as several of us, myself included, requested Boyds to make a thumbhole for White muzzy's. I never even heard back from them and not sure if anyone else did either.

Boyds custom stock if your interested

I'm pretty sure it's a Boyd stock as it was several years ago I acquired it and I believe the guy I bought it from told me that. I'd heard they did make some for White Rifles but I rarely see them posted and recall only seeing 1 before, which inspired me to start my search.

    Thumbhole stock?

Some fine artwork there and I like your Thumbhole design better than my Boyds. Long story but my Mom has a huge black walnut tree at her house that just makes a mess and I've thought about getting it cut down. It's in a small town in MI so trying to find someone who'd cut it down for the wood...

    Thumbhole stock?

I looked up a few online and saw one that said the walnut blank for the stock was $1000 piece of wood before any of the work started! Gulp!

    Thumbhole stock?

Wow. That's some beautiful wood! Would you happen to have any name(s) of stock duplicating companies?

Boyds custom stock if your interested

Really old post but here's my Thumbhole. Took me about 5 tries to get the stain to work as I didn't like the grey laminate.

    Thumbhole stock?

Has anybody ever seen anyone that has attempted 3D printing of stocks? I have one thumbhole stock, which I believe was made by Boyd and really like it but I've done searches and don't believe you can get them anywhere. I've always wondered if the material used in 3D printers would be strong...
