    Aluminum foil on your bullet?

Knurling bullets sounds interesting. Might give it a try with some bullets I have that do not group well just for fun.

I know this is gonna sound weird...

Interesting concept about indexing your sabots so one land is solid on each petal. Never heard that before.

    Ear protection favorites?

I like pro ears gold. I now have two pairs: one from m Sportsmans warehouse and the other from Ebay. I will not shoot without them. They do not interfere with my cheek weld even though I wear glasses. I have tried plugs but just do not like them in my ear for extended periods of time. You can...

    What cannon do you use?

Really are some cannons pictured here. I don't use a 12g anymore. To bulky and hard kicking. I now use a 20g TC encore and shoot TSS. Killed two very nice birds this past Spring and passed on a couple Jakes.

    Dedicated BH209 Rifle

I am very partial to the Thompson Center Pro hunter. I get respectable groups to 300 yards although I only shoot game out to 200. Using Bh 209 has been a game changer for me and my TC. My TC is sub Moa at 100 and a little over at 200 which is mainly my fault as it will hold moa with a lead sled...

    Muzzleloader storage

Like the lemon oil suggestion. I will try it as I prefer wooden stocks but never heard about apply lemon oil to the inside. Thanks

    Muzzleloader Blow Up

Very scary. I have been shooting for a long time and never had a gun blow up. Of course my relatives taught me right and I have taken several gun safety classes. As stated he was probably shooting smokeless and did not measure correctly. I was also curious about the guy shooting off the bench...

the 300 gr, bullet and why i do not use it

Sorry, could not even guess at the velocity when I was shooting the Barns. At the time I was shooting a Knight MK85 with two pellets of Pyrodex and a musket cap conversion. I may not have had near the velocity that Modern inlines generate with newer powders and ignition systems. Currently shoot...

Nikon Inline Xr 3-9x40 or Leupold Ultimate Slam 3X9X40?

Late replying to this post but I shoot the ultimate slam. It is a fantastic scope and I have used it frequently and in extreme conditions with no issues. I agree the eye relief may be a bit close for some. I have been kissed by the scope a couple of times. This is probably because I really...

    In defense of the QLA

Great post! I now know all about the QLA. I had read previously about the QLA but never really understood what the issues were. I bought my TC Pro Hunter several years ago and tuned it up to shoot sub MOA. Really glad my rifle was bored correctly as I never had a clue the QLA could cause...

    Powder for MK-85

Thanks guys for the updated info. I guess what I was looking for is the Black Mag - but it does not do me much good if it is discontinued. I have been using BH 209 in my TC Pro Hunter and was hoping there might be a similar powder that could be used in a MK. I originally used Pyrodex which was...

    Powder for MK-85

Is there a new powder available to shoot in an old MK - 85 that is similar to BH 209? I want to shoot my MK again but do not want to go back to Pyrodex. I have heard that there is another powder but have not been able to get any information on it. If I remember correctly I believe someone said...

    'Bout Time VA

Virginia's Sunday hunting bill only requires the governors' signature to become law and he says he will sign. I am really excited - unfortunately I may be relocating out of state shortly - sometimes you just can not win.

    Browning trigger spring

That youngster you trained will probably remember your advice for the rest of his life - Good Show! I agree that proper gun care is important. I am the type of person that keeps a gun that shoots well literally for decades. My 7mm has been in my possession for 30 years. Throat is rather worn...

    Hornady SST-ML Bullet/Sabot Opinions

Not meaning to be disrespectful but, even within your post there's enough conflict to consider it no better than a "good" bullet and mostly for being accurate. I'm a little confused and so may the OP but, if it performs "well at close range out to 250 yards", yet it could still "fragment under...

    Browning trigger spring

Thanks for the info on the 243 - I would probably like the regular 243 better anyway. Had one once but made the mistake of trading it off. Good advice on wiping down your rifle once it gets wet. I do that but have been concerned about the change in POI should I remove the action from the stock...

    T/C muzzle loaders

In rereading this post I am amazed at the excellent information provided. I have been shooting muzzle loaders since the 70's and wish I had such a rich source of information as provided in this forum when I first started. Whenever I had a problem I just figured it out with the help of a buddy -...
