    Swiss 1.5F in inline ML?

Have used Swiss 1 1/2F for a number of years in a Cooper ML 50 cal. Swiss 1 1/2 is closer than 2F than folks realize. Clean burning powder and have only to swab after 4 shots at the range. Swiss powder is about the best i have shot in ML's for many years. If you have Swiss go and shoot and...

    Age & Hunting

I will be 72 in August. All long as I have the love of the hunt I will continue to hunt. As noted in other threads, I have slowed down somewhat but with age comes wonderful patience and hence more opportunities especially deer hunting. Just finished my 12th day of turkey hunting with a very...

    Black powder tom's

Door breaching ML - That is funny. Have you found that you had an issue with plastic fouling with the use of the shot cups or plastic wads?

    Turkeys with a muzzleloading rifle?

New Hampshire does not allow the use of a rifle for Turkey nor spring or fall. I have hunted PA for a number of years as you can use a rifle in their fall season. Great fun with a .36 caliber flintlock. Ran in to people using .32 and .36 caliber percussion rifles as well. Shoot them where...

I think I've figured out the way a ball works

Good Thread. It is always interesting to see a recovered ball from either game or whatever. I have found it to be true that a 50 cal ball will flatten vs. expanding as noted in above thread. It is pretty amazing to me how much damage to a deer internals a round ball will create. This of...

    ramrods

I agree with Bruce with the use of the Spin Jag rod and Jag itself. Fact is I carry this take down rod in a fanny pack while hunting. I do not think I have ever used the ram rod on the gun to reload. As noted in previous thread rod always in the gun.

    Wads? Yes? No?

I am a believer in the use of Felt wads in both in-line and flintlocks. In line shooting with a wad behind the sabot may seem like over kill but I think the wad protects the base of the sabot and being lubed (wonder wad) allows multiple shots between running a few patches thru the bore...

    ramrods

I have never seen any difference in accuracy with the rod in or out. That would be with 5 different guns inline to flintlocks. With some guns this could be a case but as noted I have never seen a change Good thread

    My Latest

What a great looking flinter. I would guess that is balances real nice between the hands. Enjoy shooting and hunting with this piece.

    Airguns! What are you shootin?

I shoot a Brocock .22 cal PCP. It amazes me how powerful airguns have become. The fact that one can shoot a hog with one is just awesome. I have been invited to a couple of local farms to shoot vermin for the farmer and it has been nothing short of fun in the slower winter months in NE. Dave
