Any other adult-onset hunters on here?

I'm also an adult onset hunter as well. I had a college friend who I went hunting with 8 years ago, and I have been hooked ever since. This site has been an invaluable resources for correcting all of the muzzleloader mistakes that I have made. The collective knowledge on this site is fantastic.

ENDS THE STUCK BREECH PLUG BLUES

Blackhorn. I’ve used Teflon tape in the past, but that still gives me a little trouble with the TC. I’m not a very good follower of if it ain’t broke....don’t fix it.

ENDS THE STUCK BREECH PLUG BLUES

I’m trying to use Permatex on a TC Pro Hunter FX. I went through the process of lapping in the plug and all seems to be well. I picked up some permatex to seal the breech plug, but I’m having a heck of a time getting the breech plug snug. I used my fingers to wipe off excess permatex, but most...

Favorite knife in the deer woods?

I have Grohmann #1 and a custom Larocca knife that I like to reach for when hunting. Whichever one I decide to take goes on my belt, and then my son takes the other. I also have a Havalon Piranta that works great, but I like to have the option of cutting through the sternum with my fixed blades...

WANTED/ISO Lehigh breech plug / adapter

Lehigh Defense sells the breech plug, bolt adapter, and vent liners for the breech plug. The breech plug already comes with a vent liner in place, but they also sell extras. https://sskfirearms.lehighdefense.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=259

ENDS THE STUCK BREECH PLUG BLUES

Getting ready to purchase a new Lehigh breech plug for my Disc Extreme. I will definitely try “lapping in” the new plug. Thanks for the great info.

Lehigh DISC Extreme - Elite Parts

That is exactly what it means. You will just need the new plug, adapter, and ventliners. The great part of that you can just replace the ventliners instead of replacing the whole plug.

Lehigh DISC Extreme - Elite Parts

This is great news. I have been having trouble with BH ignition and was looking into drilling my plug. Now I can already buy one as well as the ventliners. Awesome.

    Never Hunted Before

Welcome from a fellow Illinoisan. If you are looking to get a muzzleloader, a CVA wolf would only be useful for deer hunting. A squirrel muzzleloader would need to be a much smaller caliber. If you are also interested is the spring turkey season, a shotgun (muzzleloader or regular) or a bow...

The Hidden Woodsmen makes a nice blaze orange bag, but it is definitely in a higher price range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Idaho considering regulation changes on deer hunting

The Land of Lincoln has so much private ground, that it really depends on the landowners in the area. If they try to apply QDMA management techniques, then there are bigger bucks for all. You are allowed 2 buck tags regardless of method of take, but there are not antler restrictions or age...

Shimming the 209 Primer Pocket - updated 4/7/16

Is there anyone that would have a couple of shims available? I have one breech plug that I need to shim, and I don’t want to buy a pack of 20. I would be willing to pay for them. I know that Badger Industries sells 3 for ~7-8 bucks but that seems a little steep for me. Any thoughts would be...

Anyone having this problem w/bare primer conversion/BH209

Did you just drill out the dome to shorten the flash channel, or did you add threads as well to accommodate a vent liner?

Anyone having this problem w/bare primer conversion/BH209

It’s the Disc Extreme with Winchester primers and BH209. Would the new Knight bare primer plugs work well with BH? I guess I just want to make sure I have confidence in whatever breech plug I am using.

Anyone having this problem w/bare primer conversion/BH209

Is there anywhere that the breech plug with removable vent liner can be purchased? I picked up a bare primer conversion kit on eBay a couple of years back, but the breech plug has a very convex face. It looks similar to the Thunderdome breech plug, and I have been having ignition issues at...
