    McGowen?

I spoke to Sam recently. Dan had not been very organized with orders, and invoicing etc. They were going through records trying to clean up the mess. After proving I had no invoices due, Sam told me to contact him for any future orders. I assume they are not shutting down.

    Button rifled barrel questions

A button rifled barrel is never guaranteed to be consistent enough to work well with full bore. It may or may not have tight/loose spots. More guaranteed to be consistent is a cut rifled barrel. This is the preferred barrel for smooth sized bullets.

    Smokeless Muzzleloader Build

What is the barrel thread on that? What is the receiver diameter?

    Smokeless Muzzleloader Build

This is my method of headspacing bolt muzzleloaders without using a nut system. You can keep the shank at 1.25" diameter. A fixed length module plug is used which has a short carbide bushing in the rear. We do this on Paramount conversions and Rem 700/Defiance Outcast and clones. There is a...

    Smokeless Muzzleloader Build

Definitely no sabots. I do them with a cut rifled 1-15 twist.

    Smokeless Muzzleloader Build

If you can hunt with a .40 cal, that is my first choice. Some of the nicest shooting rifles I've built are 40 cals. The action is not necessarily where safety factor comes in, it is the barrel shank and breech plug. To shoot under 300 yards from a treestand, a bolt gun is probably way over kill...

    Woodman Patriot Order Time

Back in the summer we were running around 25 weeks. We have blown out a lot of rifles and brought that way down. It could creep back up. historically, in the spring we get bombarded with orders and its happening now.

What muzzleloading stuff did you do today?

Finally got these pins done. If I recall, there were a few people looking for Omega action pins. These are knurled as you can see in the pic. Some of those older actions had grooved pins and our replacement barrels do not have provisions for that. These will solve that, or if you just need pins...

Woodman Machined Copper Hollow point 40 Caliber 175g Bullet

We machine these bullets in house and knurl them. There was a time in the beginning that we did not. Our new website will have updated pics very soon. Our 45 caliber Patriot is already capable of shooting smokeless out of the box.

Woodman Machined Copper Hollow point 40 Caliber 175g Bullet

fixed my typo's... I wouldn't use that bullet with under 100 grv of BH209, 120 would be better. I have killed deer with that, but I always used 120 grv and it expanded nicely. The bullet in the pic attached went in the front shoulder of a deer quartering to me. It was found in the rear quarter...

    175gr Barnes

I have killed plenty of deer with that bullet. It was an exclusive thing with Knight rifles from what I could find. Rather than send our customers to buy them from Knight, we started making them but added a knurl. I try not exceeding 100 yards as you need velocity to get expansion. When you hit...

    Omega revamp

As of right now it looks like the end of 2024 at the earliest for Alpha. We are still working on prototype parts before they go to casting.

funnel for load through muzzle brake

I assume Tim put the brake on? I don't recall you buying a threaded barrel. If it is my brake, funnels are in stock, there is no waiting period. Not sure where that came about. The most important thing should be a funnel that fits the brake.

Best long range (200+yards) muzzleloader for the price?

If you haven't shot a bolt action muzzleloader with full bore/sized bullets, you are missing out for sure. There is nothing like it IMO. I definitely would not want to carry 13 lbs around doing woods hunting. It's all about the right tool for the job. We were shooting a 45 bolt yesterday. It...

    Bullet seating pressure

My rule of thumb is the harder the better. If you need a hammer, it's to hard. There is nothing more comforting to me than knowing my bullet didn't move on the charge. Some people also think that if the bullet is too tight, the barrel is going to explode. Not something to even consider.

    Woodman Patriot mate

Are you trying to shoot solid copper full bore? That would not work well because you will not get obturation.

    VV N120 - Woodman Patriot + 225 Fury

You are spot on with that load. We have lots of customers shooting that load with great success in accuracy and performance on game.

Best long range (200+yards) muzzleloader for the price?

What is long range? If you are really talking long range, over 300 yds, a bolt action. You can get an all nitrided Defiance Outcast with a Brux barrel. You'd have a sub moa top quality rifle to build on for around $2k, not including optics. You can dump more money into the stock and trigger as...
