    Omega Differences

Thimbles appear to be in the correct position to be a 28" barrel. And that looks like the older version rear sight.

What do you think of the Firestick/Nitrofire system?

Some states changed; some didn't. Indiana maintained that it does not meet the definition of a muzzleloader due to the breechloading charge cartridge, but that it can be used in the modern rifle season only.

    Hornaday 200 grain sst

I've only been able to use two so far... A doe a few years back when that .40 SST first came out. 100 grains FFg 777 and she fell after a 40 yard dash. Next was a coyote two years ago and he was drt!

    New from Traditions

CVA pulled it off quite well until the sub-.50 barrels were oversized. Maybe Traditions can make a vast improvement in quality as well. Never know.

    Free rod nothing but troubles

All I could find on the net was a telescopic rod from Kagawa, Taiwan, that has eyes attached to short ferrules on the ends of each rod section. So I would just make sure all old glue is off and epoxy that ferrule back in place.

    Fury 44 caliber 250g Bullet

Funny, Nosler says bonding lowers expansion thresholds requiring less speed to expand properly.

    Free rod nothing but troubles

Epoxy should work well before hot glue would. Do what michiganmuzzy said and use either light braided fishing line or some nylon thread and wrap the guide feet to the rod and then use more epoxy to coat the wrappings. That is a professional-quality repair.

150 grains of pellets equals how much loose powder ???

127.5 grains by volume of FFg Triple Seven is equivalent to 150 grains by volume of FFg black powder. 127.5 grains of FFg loose Triple Seven is equivalent to three 50 grain Triple Seven pellets.

    boot mink oil

I thought the oil was wrung from the mink and then he was released to run around and produce more oil to wring out!

Alpha Gold 300g Bullet -- Second Look

Looks like a passing grade to me.

Sabot bullet for a .54 Renegade

I was using a 300 XTP or 270 Gold Dot in a .50 Renegade with 90 FFg, so that sounds about right for a .54.

Been busy in the tackle lab.....

I live very close to Glendale in Daviess County in southern Indiana. I'm hoping to go after crappie for the first time Friday if the forecast holds. Always have been relegated to bank fishing, but bought a boat later last year.

    RC

RCBS has replaced the small and large plastic primer feeders that hold the shell holder on top for me. The first set had worn so much that the primer seating pin was not centered any more and was leaving a crescent shape on my seated primers. No questions asked other than "what's your address? "

    300g Thor -- 80g Blackhorn

No, not really. Unless you are happy with a 2" group with the first charge and bullet choice you try.

eye relief . is 3.6 inches enough ?

And is 3.6" measured or advertised? My experience with the Bushnell AR scopes are that they have very little eye relief. At least the 3-12x one on a buddy's AR that I shot. It was maybe somewhere between 2-2.5". All I know for sure that I was glad it was on a .223 AR and not on anything larger.

    Obsolete cartridges/rifles

I don't have the rifle, but I recently reloaded 60 rounds of 43 Mauser for a friend at work that had inherited his grandfather's gun. He took it to a smith who declared it sound enough for light loads of 5744 with filler over the powder. He's planning on trying to take a deer with it and said...

What Breech Plug Grease/Anti-Seize Is Best?

Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber will take the silver anti-seize off your hands, breech plug or whatever it is on.

Some Difficulty Getting My Savage ML II to Group Well

Happens with all of my smokeless guns, cartridge or muzzleloader. Seems that all of mine have to have 4-5 shots to get back to a certain level of powder fouling for the gun to "settle back in" to its zero after being cleaned.

    1-38 twist suggestions

Just adding another data point: My 24" Thunderhawk shot the best with 90 grains Goex FFg and a .430 300 grain XTP in a Break-O-Way sabot. Three shots through a single hole at 100 yards as long as I was cleaning between shots. That was my go-to load from my Scout all the way up to the Black...
