I bought one of these rifles with the 22" barrel after setting up a compact model in 243 for my wifes niece and that gun really shot great. bought the 6.5 CM because I already had the dies and bullets and powder etc. and it really shoots awsome. the bolt doesnt lock in place on a chambered round...

I recently bought an Artcise 90c carbon fiber tripod, and then a ballhead from the hog saddle folks, and also a bog pod clamp rest to go on top of the ballhead when I was in cabelas the other day. I have noticed with my nerve disease and the damage it has caused that I am needing more stability...

where are the remington 700 short 308 actions?

Iv'e been toying with the idea of starting to get the parts for a future build and have noticed that none of the distributors I have looked at have the remington 700 or savage actions. this would be a DIY build. I have seen some high end actions but they are cost prohibitive for my needs. I...

    full moon deer movement lull.

    can't waite for muzzleloader season

It's been a little too warm here in SE virginia for a while now and it has effected the bow season. I went this evening at 78 degrees and had a decent hunt with the crossbow but I just about got ill walking in that heat. Almost had a shot at a large coyote chasing two small does which came by me...

    Hope everyone is doing well.

I haven't been on here in a while as it was too hot for comfortable shooting, but now fall is amongst us archery comes in first and I use a crossbow now due to disability, and then muzzleloader comes in. I pulled into my driveway the other nite and I live on a farm, and there were three bucks...

Determining the length of a powder column in my cva scout conversion.

A little while back I stopped using imr 4227 in my scout conversion with the short His breech plug because there is a .542 section of unrifled larger dia. section in front of the breech plug and with my 45 gr. charge being such a short powder column I couldn't be sure that my bullet wasnt...

Ordered an RCBS chargemaster lite powder dispenser.

Well I had been wondering if I really needed an electronic powder dispenser and finally talked myself into it today. My Imr 4198 charges are a little tough with Dad's old redding manual dispenser and I wasn't satisfied with how much effort it took me to get an acceptable charge. I was dumping...

large rifle vs. large magnum rifle primers

After using only federal large magnum rifle primers since I got my scout conversion with His breech plug and brass primer modules, I'm tempted to try some large rifle primers. I haven't really wanted to go up to 65 gr. of 4198 , but rather have been wanting to go with a little less recoil...

    leupold vx3i 2-10x40 vs. vxr patrol 3-9x40 30mm

Anyone look through these two scopes and can tell me which one has better low light capability? as far as seeing the deer. I know the vxr has firedot. also durability on a scout conversion, opinions. I have alot of phillipine made scopes that just lose the deer too early and their eye relief is...

need small powder funnel for pouring into barrel.

when I take my brake off to shoot sabots I could use a small funnel to pour powder into the barrel. pouring from a charge tube into a 45. cal muzzle is just asking to spill some powder. does anyone have a source for a funnel like this? My muzzle brake funnel won't fit in the muzzle.

Scout conversion shows potential with Imr4227

I went out today for a short session as it was getting cool out there this evening and I needed to sight my scope back in after switching rings. I took a new powder Imr4227 in 45gr charges and some 250gr fury star tip bullets in the plain crimp nosed design at .452. I had sized them down and...

Just wanted to start a new thread seeing as we got into the saboted stuff on the bear creek thread. I am new to this in a sml 45 cal scout conversion. I have both types of 4198 powder and the His ignition system with the large magnum rifle primer. I may order some fury bullets too. I see he...

Today I recieved a package from BCB with 2 packs of the ballpoint bullets and a 5 bullet sample of the same bullet with a pointed polymer tip instead of the semi flattened ballpoint. I am a computer dummy so no pics unless someone wants me to text them a pic from my phone. They are now machined...

Well I went through the scouts barrel again trying to make sure I didn't have any copper up by the muzzle, butch's bore shine and bronze or brass brush and then more cleanup with patches I think it's clean. I have been searching for a reason my groups opened up some recently and I did notice...
