    Wax, grease, or oil?

Neighbor bought a brand new Rem 1100, had no experience, and asked me how to clean and store it. Against my adament urgings, he spraed it down with WD-40 and put it in the closet after dove season. 4 months later he pulled out a rusted piece of junk. Surface rust, pitting, etc. Ruined a...

    $500 for 1000 9mm?!

I have maybe 3000 9mm's . enought for quite some time, but I don't really all that much. In any case, when it gets crazy expensive I just usually start shooting my old 38's and reload for them. To be honest, I cannot figure out this shortage. All the "new" gun buyers are not likely to be...

    $500 for 1000 9mm?!

I can't figure that all the "first time gun owners" do a lot of range time. Maybe a few boxes to keep on hand. If that's the case, then all the surge buying is "gun guys". Good greif. I have 3 or 4 thousand round of 9mm. I may sell a 1000 so I can buy a new bow! It gets like this I just...

    New Lyman made by pedersoli

My 54 Hawken from Cableas was made by Investarms. 30 years ago. That was and is a good rifle and barrel. Beautiful stock. Investarms made a quality rifle back then.

    Eastern Box Turtle

Was looking for a wayward arrow yesterday. Seems it flew over my target. Imagine that. Anyhoo, found it and a box turtle rumagging around. Course he sucked up into his shell so I couldn't say hello. We had one named "Cruiser" in the back yard for years then one day he disappeared. Don't...

    Happy Patriots Day!

Was going to shoot off my "musket" (AKA 54 Hawken) a few times this afternoon to celebrate, but there is NO WAY to keep my powder dry today! Good Lord it is pouring outside..

    Accidential double load

To get the ball(s) out: - CO2 tool as was mentioned. - An air chuck using compressed air from a compressor - Tried and true snail screw on ramrod, and pull it out Be aware that the first two methods do indeed send the ball out pretty darn fast. Fast enough to do serious damage. To...

    Hawken gets a new Barrel

So that barrel I got from TOW. It was made by T/C. Nice barrel. Now I'm a terrible shot, really which I why I prefers shotguns! But off bags I got a 1/3" group at 25 yards using a .530 RB, .015" patch, and 100 grs of T7 2F powder. Like I said; Nice barrel from TOW.

    Hawken gets a new Barrel

I just recently got a drop n barrle from TOW. Mine was very similar to yours, but 54 cal. Same length and twist. Still playing around with the loads but it's seems to be very accuracte with 80 or 90 gr of Tripple 7 2F.

New Ignition system for CVA Accura, Optima and wolf.

Re: New Ignition system for CVA Accura, Optima and wolf. Nice idea.  I personally don't sit in the rain.  Did when I was younger and hungrier.  Now I just lay up around the house and get fat(ter).

    Sighted in the Canadian 94

You shot that at 50yards with irons???   Fine shooting.   I can barely see the center dot at 50 yards, let alone shoot it like that!!

What is the Hot Shot nipple?

Same here.  I've shot Pyrodex 2g, 3g, RS, and T7 2g from my Hawken.  Never had trouble with any of the various nipples.  But, I've used mostly the Hot Shot. What would be wrong with drilling out the "powder end" of a  nipple to a larger size?  Needs to stay smaller than the powder size, but...

    Need a new barrel

My Cabela's Hawken was made by Investarm and is .54 caliber and a 1 in 48 twist.  I'd ike to get a slower twist barrel. TOW has one for a TC Hawken "drop-in barrel GMT-54-C-TC-32-B".   You guys have any  idea if this barrel would be pretty much just drop in on my Cabela/Investarm rifle?

    Mowrey Gun Works

Sorry for you loss.  I lived in Graham for a few years and of course heard of Mowrey guns.   I've no idea of their worth.   Best to you.
