    Tungsten Turkey Ammo: Is It Worth It?

    I'm using steel shot #4 out of my Remington 870 works for me as all my shots are under 40 yards for turkey. In my muzzleloaders I'm using .44mag lead free for deer. New York has no lead when hunting on state land.

    I only got one deer from the ground with my bow. It was years ago (1984, I think) when I first started bow hunting.

    The problem was the old powder for sure. I went to FF/T7 was using FFF. I think that's why breech plug was having problems. All is while with my Lightnings shooting 1/2" groups again and it goes off every time using #11.

    Plug was fine. I always clean my breach plug and make sure it open with a hat pin.

    I went to the range a week ago with my two Whitelightnings (hadn't shot them since last December) neither would fire. Never have I ever had a problem with either gun. So, I tried new number 11 primers, still didn't shoot, checked everything. I bought the last T7/ff bottle in Rome New York...

    I have killed 4 deer with 240gr XTPs and 80grs T7/777 and 4 deer with 240XTPs from my Redhawk, works for me.

    Carry almost everything in my folding chair pocket and the rest goes in my jacket pockets.

    I get sub 1" groups with my Whitelighting with same bullets and 80grs (vol) T7/FFF.

    I use fff or ff whichever I can find, which lately has been fff.

    My two Whitelighting one likes 240gr XTP with sabots and the other likes 460gr conical.

    Cleaning a muzzleloader

    I've found after soapy water Awesome Orange (now $1.25 @ Dollar Store) cleans out all grease and oil. Finish off with your favorite gun oil and you're ready to shoot again.

    White muzzleloader help needed

    It looks like the same breech plug as my Whitelighting. I remove them using a 3/8" socket. Kroil has always worked for me.
