    Snack sticks

Looks delicious! One of these days I’m going to have to get a smoker and a stuffer. I might have to stop buying guns and redirect my allowance [emoji3]

    HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy new year to you, too! First hunt of the year [emoji1360]

    Never Hunted Before

Since you are in Illinois, don’t forget to get your FOID card. For squirrel hunting, you might look into a .22 rimfire. Not only is it good practice for big game hunting, but it also avoids pellets in the squirrel meat. A shotgun would be the most versatile, because you could use it for any of...

    Fast Twist .36 Cal Build

I see GM54 came in with an answer already. I have heard of WMD also. That price sheet looks like it is geared toward modern sporting rifles (aka the Evil Black Rifle or AR-15). The nitriding process involves high heat, so I have heard that barrel parts should be disassembled before nitride...

    Rural King deals

Ohio is practically covered up in red dots. Funny, because I don’t remember ever seeing one when I lived there. Is Rural King a newer chain? This store sounds a bit like Murdoch’s that we have on the CO front range. Murdoch’s has all of the farm store things as well as a pretty nice...

    Fast Twist .36 Cal Build

I wondered about nitride also, but I’m not sure if Lewis wants a more traditional looking finish. I have one centerfire barrel in nitride and I like it.

    Firehawk Does

Sounds like a fine day of hunting! There can’t be many people who get to experience a double with their muzzleloader.

    New guy in CO

Now that Christmas is over, I’ll get some conicals ordered. I hope to shoot in a couple of weeks. [emoji1360]

    Fast Twist .36 Cal Build

I haven’t done blueing on such a large piece before. I look forward to some pictures along the way, I hope. I made a Muzzleloading pistol kit a long time ago with my Dad, but that short barrel was easy to cold blue. I haven’t done the rust blueing either, but I was fascinated to read about the...

    Fast Twist .36 Cal Build

Good for you, Lewis! There’s not many things more exciting than a new gun! What method of blueing are you going to do? I have always admired the slow rust blue of the old Winchester guns.

Thor and No Excuses sizing packs

Hey, thanks for the input. I would have dropped these back into the pot, but I agree that these must be like seconds that get used for sizing packs.

Thor and No Excuses sizing packs

Thanks @sabotloader. BTW, I found my sight setup thanks to some of your posts here and on another site.

Thor and No Excuses sizing packs

@GM54-120 Hey, thanks for all of the feedback. I was planning on the NE 460s, as you suggested. I’ll see if I can find Bullshop’s email address and give him a try also. I ordered some felt wads in .50 and they were too small to be useful. I’ll try the .54. I also have a 1/8” overshot card...

    New .50 Cal Mold

That is a GREAT looking mold! I hope you'll share some pictures of the bullets it drops. What type of sizer are you using?

Thor and No Excuses sizing packs

Thanks to both of you. I will be using BH209 with this rifle. I reason that you are recommending the .502 No Excuses because of fouling in the bore making it more difficult to seat a conical. I really couldn't tell a difference in seating once the conical was started. Will the fouling also make...

Thor and No Excuses sizing packs

TLDR: I took some pictures while trying out Thor and No Excuses sizing packs. I was somewhat surprised at the different sizes for different conicals, but it makes sense that lead is easier to squish down the tube. With the new muzzleloader, I am bound to hunting with full-bore projectiles for...

    New guy in CO

I think I am going to be very happy with this one. The scope is only for load development.

    New guy in CO

Thank you for the welcomes! I wish I still had that renegade, but it was one of many that I had to sell after a divorce. I would gladly trade the CVA Wolf to have that Renegade again! The Wolf does OK, but that Renegade was amazing with round balls and pretty good with Maxi-balls too.

    New guy in CO

Hello, everyone. I shot my first muzzleloader 34 years ago (a T/C Renegade in .54). I only hunted a few seasons with that gun. More recently, I decided to make the switch to an in-line and bought a CVA Wolf. I am a Colorado resident and interested in hunting the muzzleloader seasons here. I just...
