First Muzzy Purchase: CVA vs. Knight... Advice and Reviews!

I’ve never thought cleaning a Knight was that big of a deal. I have a 1/4” socket dedicated to the job. When hunting I have complete confidence with my setup, very reliable. 4 shots last Fall, 2 anterless, a coyote and a 10 pointer. All fell less than 20 yards after being hit, no kidding.

    .50 or .45.....

I most often use a 45 cal, nothing against a 50. I like the added fps with my 45, yes I could experiment with a lighter bullet with the 50. For me it was 2218 verses 1950 fps in the 50.

    45 caliber crony test

    13 yd mzzl sight in

I’ve not heard of this ‘13 yard’ sight in procedure. Normally one starts close, then moves out some ensuring you will be ‘on paper’. In just about any case, one really needs to shoot further out.

    knight muzzleloaders

I certainly don’t know for sure. It would be hard to imagine it wouldn’t come pre-drilled. Even if setup for ‘western’ hunting(certain States), one can normally float back & forth.

    Dont Get Scammed

It seems like WTB ads are more a magnet for scammers. Of course they have what you are looking for.

    FIRST MUZZLELOADER

Yes, a M-L does take trial & error to see what works. Say one has a 308 rifle, often walking in to Walmart to get any brand of ammo would probably be ok. I have what works for me, to keep it simple, I don’t change much now.

    IL Deer 2022

I should have took more pictures. The skull is on the way to the beetle shop. I’m more of a ‘European mount’ guy lately, lower cost, easy care. One guy was a little newer to deer hunting, I tried to get him some action. He had a shot but missed with his slug gun, anterless. He did enjoy the...

    IL Deer 2022

Just back from the 2nd period in IL, I wasn’t there for the 1st period. It was a slow start, saw a handful, fewer than years ago. I did have a few requests for deer, should I have any to give away. On day 2 I shot two anterless while still hunting my way to a stand. Another factor they were in...

    I got scammed :(

Different site, but potentially similar. I posted a WTB add, reloading brass. The thing I wonder, is it worth scamming a guy over $100? I could see $500 on a gun or something. In my case I just sent an offer for an explanation or refund before the next step.

Hunting Load Question - New Member

I have taken deer out to the 125-140 yard range(M-L), yes I realize another 50 yards is very doable. I know there are special situations with the shooter, gun, practice, & known range going much longer. I also know by a life of hunting many are reluctant to tell you about wounded & lost game...

    Newbie looking for best practices

I’ve seen B209 at a few shops, WI & MI, sadly priced at $79. Where are you located? Crush Rib - High Pressure Sabots - 50 Caliber (50 Pack) Here is a link to better, more forgiving sabots.

    Coyote problems

With regards to calling coyotes, first off, one much prefers uneducated, often young coyotes. That can be tough, location, then early in the year. Of course, when food is scarce it’s better for calling, mid to late Winter. If not versed to call at night, the very 1st bit of light is next. I...

    Newbie looking for best practices

You need a better bore fit, with the sabot/bullet combination. First off, look into the Harvestor, ‘crush-rib’ sabot. They are much more forgiving in the bore, a tight bore. I normally use 45 cal bullets in my 50 cal m-l. You can try slight bullet variations, .451” or .452”, you have to...
