    Hornady PA 240 grain conical

I will be trying these out of my Lyman Great Plains this morning. I couldn't sleep from excitement. I know their for a longer barrel 1:66 twist barrel but gonna try them in my 32 inch 1:60 twist anyways. According to the paper that came inside the box (which was odd) with a 50 yard zero, it only...

FOR SALE TK2000 and TC Impact

I regretfully want to sell my TK2000 with extra full choke. It comes with a 209 fpj breech plug and a musket cap breech plug. I'm also selling my TC Impact with new Konus scope with ballistic reticle. I live in NC. I committed a very small felony when I was 19 and just got informed by a deputy...

    Homemade accoutrements

I really enjoyed building my pistol minnie horn, that holds around 3.5 ounces, and I put a lot of time into dads horn. It's a fun hobby too. I have decided to buy me a flintlock smoothie for dog hunting as well. I just believe the "buck n ball" load will knock a running buck down easily with one...

    Update on recovery

I;m doing a lot better everyone. I just got to get used to flushing my bladder whenever i start getting the dreadful spasms. But other than that, my urine is cleard up, the pain is gone, and I'm back 100%. I shot at my range a little while yesterday and for 3 hours this evening. I'm ready for...

    Custom built Traditions "Trapper" pistol

I am very, very proud of my build. And I am ready to build skill level 1 and Intermediate gun kits for customers. I invested a considerable amount of money in hand tools, magnifier, supplies, etc. to build kit funs, deep clean guns, and repair muzzle loaders. I just need to learn how to mail...

    Up coming risky surgery

On the 11th, I will be at UNC Chapel Hill, NC for a risky but required bladder surgery. They have to use imaging to go around my repositioned intestines to even get to my bladder, from stomach ostomy surgery 2 years ago. Then make small incision in bladder and insert a superpudic catheter that...

    Hammered in round balls

I believe our ancestors mainly used a small wooden mallet to start their round balls, so I decided to experiment with it and "Oxyokes'" competition patch lube. With my normal load: 60 grains 3f Goex, .015 patch it was all over the target. And I've noticed it has been noticeably easier to load in...

    Off Hand Shooting

I give credit when credit is do. I believe I deserve a little today. Ranges of 25, 50, and 100 yard (NMLRA rules) off-hand patch round ball with a score of 101 out of a total of 150. The 1st upper left was my practice shot. I scored 43 out of 50 at 25 yards.

    My Squirrel

Our house is surrounded by woods with a variety of trees. My dad feeds the squirrels and birds corn and sunflower seeds in the front yard. I can go on my front porch in the afternoon and count anywhere from 10 to 19 squirrels and a dozen or more types of birds. They are not concerned about this...

    Update on losing hunting territory!

I am very happy to announce that I just got back from meeting a man that bought 40 of the 100 acres I lost rights to. He is very nice and loves to talk. He gave me the lease (basically lifetime hunting rights) for a great deal. I only have to pay his land taxes. Counting the 45 acres right next...

    Losing hunting territory

Well, the land that I have been hunting my entire life is shrinking. a total of almost 200 acres is down to half now due to people dying and their children selling. I do not blame or hold any hard feelings, but it is saddening.

    Bullet alloy

So for casting conicals, it is best for me to order 40:1 alloy from Buffalo? I successfully casted 95 .498 round balls yesterday and they all weighed 181 and 182 grains. Well I had to discard like 5 or so that weighed 180 or 183.

    Shrinkage?

I ordered a ball mould from www.ballmoulds.com. They explain that we have to allow for shrinkage when ordering. multiply the desired mould size by 1.005 for harder alloys and 1.007 for pure lead. Wanting a .498 ball, we decided on a .501 mould. However, after I cast a bit over 100 balls, I...
