Ok, so I just checked this and all primers were 0.297" to start. After closing the breech on them they were between 0.290" and 0.292". Obviously this is a good deal more than the .003" you referenced but in earlier dry fire (no charge, just primer) testing anything less than the current position...

So if someone did this and only had a .001 crush on average would you use the same 5 and keep adjusting? Also, I should have probably mentioned that I'm using CCI magnum primers.

Ok so after some adjustments I was able to get a clean primer. The bushing is a bit more proud than I would like and it takes a bit more enthusiasm to lock it up but I guess that's the price you pay. Now I need to find or make some shims.

I'm new to the theory but I think you might be misunderstanding to conversation. We're not moving the breech plug, were moving the firing pin bushing toward the breech plug.

Interesting info here. I noticed my primers were quite dirty the other day but they popped out easily. Sounds like adjusting the firing pin bushing could create a tighter seal and in turn keep things a little cleaner?

Maybe I am over thinking this but how are you all weighing out your BH charges? I have a pocket scale that I use for checking arrow weights and it seems accurate enough for that but it only weighs in even increments. I wanted to weigh up some 77 grain charges but settled on 76 grains. You guys...

My order came in today, the so called "2nds" look perfect to me and even have red tips. Weird thing is I see midway has increased the price from $20/50ct to $30/50ct . At that price there is no savings over the Hornady branded FTX.

That's a 6-18 VX2 with the LRV duplex reticle on mine. It also has a volquartsen trigger.

What do you guys pay for blackhorn locally? I've been calling around and have found one shop that has it in the 10 oz size for $45. Does that seem about the going rate or should I shop around?
