How much pressure will escape from the vent-hole depending on caliber etc.?

If the caliber is small I guess the vent-hole also has to be small, in comparison with a big cannon that could use a big vent-hole. I wounder how big is too big for a vent-hole depending on the caliber and the length of the barrel? Could a gun with a short barrel, like a philadelphia derringer...

    Ultracompact derringer with superimposed loads

As mentioned earlier, it’s actually not a thing I came up with by myself, the superposed concept has been around basically since muzzleloaders has been around. My idea with my gun was to overcome the flaws of a old design with some small new improvements.

Pour the powder and shots down the muzzle?

Isn’t the Minié bullet undersized, but has a skirt that expands when it’s fired making a sealed fit in the barrel? Maybe something like that can be a solution? Edit I think it could be dangerous if the minié bullet doesn’t chamber properly against the powder but are stuck a bit up the barrel...

Pour the powder and shots down the muzzle?

My idea is to make a muzzleloaded gun that can be reloaded very fast, even faster than cartridge guns. Which load I’ll use depends on which load that will work best for the concept, and my initially though was that shots should be a better option than a bullet, because then maybe they can be...

    Short barrel derringer

Hello. I’m about to make a very small black powder derringer in cal .41. I want to make the barrel very short, and I read that derringer-barrels could be as short as 1.5” back in the days. But such a short barrel will lose alot velocity, especially with black powder that burns relatively slow...

Pour the powder and shots down the muzzle?

Hello. I want to be able to load my muzzleloader fast so I don’t want to use my ramrod. Can I use something for sealing instead of wad, that don’t need to be rammed down but just poured? Like sand or very small birdshots or something?

    Ultracompact derringer with superimposed loads

Hello! I’ve been sketching on a small over/under derringer with the capacity of four shots. I’ve seen the superimposed concept on the forgotten weapons channel, and I thought it’s pretty neat. But I’m curious of what could go wrong. Here’s a picture of a barrel and the loads...
