Goex FFFg or Triple 7 FFFg by the numbers!

I have short started my percussion .50 using 2f triple 7 probably 5 times, and you could tell it was almost a squib load, but it did shoot and no ill effects. Didn't mean to, but did. Squint

    Pyrodex P (FFFG) powder Question.

thanks for the reply Hanshi. The first person I was around with a Muzzleloader was a good friend 32 years older than I was and would have been 68 years old. He sent and got a kit and we put a 36 caliber percussion together. It was too small of a caliber for deer, so he decided to sell it to...

    single stage reload speed

Old guys are all alike, I'm still using a CH single stage press I bought in 1959, brand new for $12.00. Had to finally change the ram to take different size base ammo. Squint

    Muzzys Kick

I to always used one of those old steel weavers on my main deer gun, but it was a fixed 2 1/2 power with four inch eye relief I believe, so I never got in trouble with it. Every variable i looked at had shorter eye relief belief, sometimes I couldn't believe that you would even dare use them..

    Muzzys Kick

Good morning 62. I'm sure it all depends on how traditional you wanna be. I use peep sites and I don't know if they are traditional or not, but i can shoot iron sites poorly, but probably good enough to kill a deer plus the advantages are I quit hunting this year and I'm only shooting paper...

    Pyrodex P (FFFG) powder Question.

Eidiablo is right, about central Montana, a little close to Canada. These days Spend quite a bit of time shooting muzzle loaders, I was down the road of shooting modern rifles, hand loading, chronographing speeds and experiment with all of that kind of stuff, gave it up around 2000, been...

    Weighing Powder

good evening Shorty. Well I got out this afternoon, here in Montana it was 45 above, and I got to test weighted charges against those that are just throwed and you know the results were identical to the best I can shoot. It didn't make any difference. The whole thing I wanted to do was...

    Pyrodex P (FFFG) powder Question.

Thanks deermanok. I'm sure that would. I've always went with black in my Flintlock, I'm sure it would be better in my other rifles too, problem is I can't buy any in the...

    Pyrodex P (FFFG) powder Question.

Since my first interest in muzzle loaders, all I was aware of was a percussion and that's what I shot for some years and that's what my friend shot before that that got me interested. Anyway, I then got into Flint locks, and that's a whole different operation. But I never did try pyrodex in my...

    I have cancer

Don't fool around Ron. Get yourself to a good urologist and take the course that is gonna get the best results, it does make any difference if it's a full operation or radiation, be careful about taking the little pellets is they have caused trouble. Do what a doctor recommends . Once you let it...

    Weighing Powder

hi Shorty. I failed to mention when I posted that, that I do use a wad above the powder to keep from burning the patch and it didn't work, and I think it's made out of wool. it's not real thick probably an eighth inch that I buy. It dawned on me when I got done shooting that I do have some .495...

    Weighing Powder

Well WP79 vet, I went out and tried my luck in seeing how my weight charges compared to those that I just used the measure on. I shot at 50 yards and there was such a little difference between the two that you really couldn't tell what was the best I actually think the measured charges were a...

    Weighing Powder

WP79Vet. Greetings. I tell you what, the weather is supposed to be 57 above here come next Wednesday so and I went out tonight and weighed up some charges of 777, that's what I am using in my percussion and I see a fellow posted that it might work in a flintlock so I might try that too, three...

    Pyrodex P (FFFG) powder Question.

It will work just fine, loaded by volume compared to black powder. Clean the rifle the best you can, it's hardly good enough so do it again. It'll shoot just fine. When I first got around muzzle loaders 70 years ago that's all we could buy here and it worked just fine. If you find you like...

I whipped it, and you can too. Get right after it.

    I have cancer

I went through that about 15 years ago with the same diagnosis and then same test results. They gave me high speed radiation that killed the prostate but now I have more trouble because it's still there it's just has shrunk down to nothing. Looking back on it I might have been better off just...

Hunting with Triple 7- clean barrel or fouled barrel

Actually sometimes I unload mine with my air compressor, considering that the primers are not corrosive I don't feel that it's necessary to absolutely clean when I get done if I can blow the charge out it will keep just fine about the same as one of my regular rifles.

    Dragging deer - best way

Me and a friend still hunt elk with bow and arrow, though I think I'm gonna quit, he still does, but then he's only 82. Anyway, we carry a roll of what they call smooth Barb wire and we use that to drag out elk. You can pull an awful big animal with it, by going around the neck, take a half...
