    Light loads for 30 06?

06 is a very versatile round. I shot it for many years in full bore competition. I think my winner was 165g spitzer. With 54 g 4831. (From memory). Along comes son's, daughter's, and grandchildren. Loads went down to 110 rn and back up again to 220g partition and a compressed powder load for my...

    I love the puppy door!

    Pea shooters

For many that is true. Many are just focussed where we do not see it. Like watching rockets launch on tv and making sugar propelled rockets that were aimed at the barn. Some grandchildren are too damned focussed!

FOR SALE New CVA Wolf 3X9 Scope & Mount

I got a Konus a couple years ago as part of a combination package. It failed and I contacted the seller for return instructions. They said never mind a replacement is on it's way. That is the way to do business!

    How to Remove Bluing

I love Lauer products. I have some parts here I cleaned and polished then clear coated. They look nice. My son assembled a rifle probably 20 years ago. He kept polishing the steel because he wanted it perfect before blue. It took so long he was into hunting season and still not blued. He used...

    Reloading find and question

I have seen rings like that put on by a fellow that did not check the overall case length. Then he loaded them and tried to set everything using a die set for proper length brass. He called when the rounds would not chamber. I loaned him a bullet puller for disassembly and assume the brass went...

    Searching for 22LR Bolt

You are right about ammo! When I was a youngster I shot small bore and when the competition levels increased so did ammo costs. I still kept a couple of good rifles and fed them well until the .22 ammo ' crisis' when I got a good buy on a case of extra high vel for practice in my Sporter and...

    Processing

I believe the bags marked " CHUNKS" are the most versatile on the animal.

The LORD was good to me

W What you do is important. How you do it matters. What a great sentiment! I no longer work in industry but have tried to maintain those thoughts and pass along to all who care. I keep up with industry communications. My family earns their livelihood building and maintaining ( mostly mine and...

Why I'm sure I'll never buy from Cabelas/Redhead again

We lost a couple of local shops recently, mainly due to Cabellas. One owner told me - the wives go for the 'fashions' and take dad along where he buys some ammo or something I sell here. The BUT is when you are looking for a specific item they probably will not have it. If you special order -...

What muzzleloading stuff did you do today?

Out in the desert with a Colt knock off to deplete my BP stock. Goex running low. Shopping for BP in Yuma can be a pain.

I done ( another) baaad thing...

Some guns just stick to you and some don't.I don't know what it is, the caliber, the action, the wood? Ar my place auto loaders pass straight through. If I see a nice one at the right price, home it goes. Down to the range and then trade bait. Same with levers. I like well fitted arms with worn...

    How to bed your bases.

Over the years I have used lots of red Locktite and like it. Sometimes you need to adjust a bit to get there. (use a mill bastard file or diamond sharpener) If the tolerance is too great it goes back in the drawer or to a gun show.

    Cute Muzzleloading Story

BP is a genuine sickness that compels you to acquire a strange collection of materials. The cure does not present itself until you run out of cash. Then along comes some enabler that says "oh it's OK. Just pay me later!
