Ruger Old Army vs Remington 1858

The powder regs. seem somewhat complicated but one does what he has to do to enjoy this sport. $ 600 doesn't seem out of the question for a quality revolver.

Well here, I guess I hit a little sensitive spot in the social club. I see a few of the people here appear to have some experience at distance. That's a good thing . Others just seem to be mouthing off to defend their buddies. And that's OK If one is going to dish it out one has to be able to...

    Can you feel the burn?

OK Saw you guys flying F-100's In V.N. Took a ride in a C-130 and a C123. We had three 0-1 Bird dogs on our airfield used for forward observation. We were flying Grumman OV-1 Mohawks over Cambodia and Laos.

    Can you feel the burn?

If you have ever been in a room full of Koreans that have been eating Kimchi and smoking their cigarettes You haven't lived. Kimchi takes some getting used to. OK for a small side dish if you can get past the smell Tempura is maybe Japanese Tempura is not Japanese. I spent many days working...

    Can you feel the burn?

I don't feel the burn Except in my pocket book. You spend a lot of money for your cooking hobby. I'm going to start calling you Julia Childs 54. You put on quite a photo display for a muzzle loading forum. I prefer the guns, can't shoot a pepper, Or maybe I can. If you have a veggy stand in...

Ruger Old Army vs Remington 1858

What is the cost of proofing? Is black powder difficult to obtain? How costly is black powder in the UK? I'm trying to understand why you would spend the kind of money you have on your guns.

A person might be able to shoot a 1000 yrds. at Camp Atterbury Indiana. If that's convenient. Just a suggestion to look into. If out west may not be a problem. 1000 yrds. is a long way. Not sure what the point might be. The gun Encore is shooting is not meant or built for 1000 yrd. shooting...

The Arrowheads and the Hankins guns will do anything you can do and probably then some. You will have to get on the waiting list if you can. Or find some one for a build. Watch out for references if neither can do the work.

    Whitworth Rifles

Possibly what gave the Whitworth the advantage over all the other guns of the time was it's ability shooting and stabilizing a more aero dynamic Bullet for a greater distance. The Whitworth has a 1-20 twist which was unheard of at the time as far as rifles. Wish I had the money to own one. Big...

    Encore/Brux .45 BH209 loads?

I prefer Black Horn in my inline low pressure black powder guns and live with the dirt. Or I shoot Black powder in my RB guns and live with the clean up I would not loose the efficiency of BH to smokeless powder in my 2 Reminghtons, 1 savage, and 1 scout conversion . Enjoy the BH in your...

    Encore/Brux .45 BH209 loads?

Black Horn can give one the same velocities up to a point. Giving up less energy it takes more powder and a longer burn time which means a longer barrel equates to less efficiency. Not cleaning between shots can improve accuracy with a smokeless propellant. In many smokeless powders the burn...
