Thompkins and Allen 50 cal barrel

The barrel is only a part and should be sale able in even the most communist states in Estados Unitas de America.

    CCI Musket Caps?

I think the Schuetzen caps are every bit as hot but they’re made of steel and don’t fragment at all.

Thompkins and Allen 50 cal barrel

Actual value would probably be closer to a couple hundred dollars if the bore is in good condition and judging from the outside of the barrel, I would expect it to be clean enough to fetch that much.

What happened to all of the Percussion Caps?

Muzzleloaders.com have them. As do other websites.

    Hammer to nipple distance.

For years I would carefully set up my percussion revolver hammers for non contact with the cones by about .005”. (Ruger Old Army revolvers were setup this way from the factory.) Close enough for positive ignition yet the cap remains in place and drops off as the cylinder revolves to advance to...

    No Bang

I’ve used T7 in TC side locks successfully but the 3f granulation only. Seems like the 2f stuff doesn’t flow easily into the flash channel. Also, T7 needs more heat than the real thing. I’ve had good results with nipples having a larger orifice. .030” seems to be the magic number. Uncle Mikes...

    Shout out to Skinner Sights!

I have a couple TC’s set up like this. Solid sight, (no worries about bumping anything out of alignment here!) works just great and looks very clean and businesslike.

    Identifying 32cal revolver and a E.N. 44cal

The Santa Barbara is a Remington Army copy from Spain, produced from the seventies till 2000’s of good solid steel and every one I’ve seen has been well made and fitted. Parts could be used from Uberti most likely but would require some hand fitting. “The Santa Barbara New model Army revolvers...

    22 revolver

I have the Earl model. It’s a 22 mag frame, 4” barrel, decent sights and a larger grip. Really a nice little belt gun for squirrels and such…

a front sight with globe, spirit level , adjustable and fits a Knight barrel

The other best option is to get a standard foresight from Williams and pair it with the Foolproof Rear aperture sight. Unless you expect to shoot at extremely long range this setup will allow you plenty of windage and elevation. This front sight With the Foolproof rear aperture sight.

a front sight with globe, spirit level , adjustable and fits a Knight barrel

Some antique front sights were mounted on blocks. Redfield, Williams, Vader, Fecker, and many others all made versions of these but they’re not easy to find. Sometimes Ebay has listings for them. All in all, you’re probably better off just cutting the dovetail...

    1X Scopes on Primitive Season

Everyone can’t have everything. That’s OK. If you can have success within the constraints of a primitive arms season, count yourself lucky and enjoy the fruits of your labor. If not, well maybe next year.

    Under Hammer Pistols and Rifle

15-30 grains of 3f behind a .445 patched ball in the 45. 8-15 grains behind a .350 ball in the .36’s. Maybe 20 grains more in the rifle. The Bondini should be an exceptionally accurate pistol.

BP Revolver Sight (how to file the sight techniques)

All of the originals and most of the replicas of the Colt revolvers hit well above point of aim.

    Using Pellets Instead of Powder

I’ve used them. Don’t have the patience for making paper revolver cartridges and the Pyrodex pellets work just fine. Good power, convenient etc. I normally use loose powder because I have plenty, but sometimes it’s nice to just pop in a round of pellets and ball and blaze away.
