The Northern Lights were strong last night

I love chasing the aurora borealis but commonly known as the northern lights, and last night the Kp index was a 6. Living here in NW Montana gives some really great night photography for stars, and the northern lights. Camera used Fuji XT-2, lens Rokinon 12mm, F/2.0 exposure 11 seconds, ISO 1250

    GOEX going out of business!

I believe someone will be buying Goex, we might see a dead spot in production, but then it will pick up again.... I'm getting the materials to make my own.

Alliant Black MZ & New Patch Test

I finally ended up with 9 lbs, and love this stuff... great for the range, but save my real BP for using at our club shoots.

    Elephant 🐘

I do like Elephant, came across an old distributor of BP, and he had nearly a case mixed between both FFg and FFFg, which I bought all of it at $8 a pound.

    Double PRB shot

I had this happen once at a club shoot, I never saw the hit marks on the target because of the other shooters... so while out at the gravel pit this past Monday with my brother, I decided to load a double PRB over 60gr of FFg. The first time, the target stand got knocked over, so I decided to...

The British and coming, the British and coming

Lucky I live in Montana, the state gravel pit has not target rules other than no house hold junk like refrigerators, TV and computers etc. The NMLRA has smooth bore targets that are set up and look like British solders at Friendship Ind. Even at our local indoor ranges here, B-27 silhouette...

The British and coming, the British and coming

A little fun this morning with 5 shots, .54 cal PRB, experimenting with the red/white pillow ticking which is 0.015 thickness, I have been using the blue/white pillow ticking that is 0.018 haven't seen any issues with accuracy differences between the two.

Illinois has to send muzzleloaders to FFL

If a gun store or pawn shop is requiring the Fed Form 4473 when ATF doesn't require it on a traditional muzzle loader ie caplock or flintlock... it's time to order online or go elsewhere, even across state lines. I have seen it on modern muzzleloaders that use 209 shotgun primers or Traditions...

Illinois has to send muzzleloaders to FFL

WOW ATF doesn't even require the Federal Form 4473 to be filled out, because a muzzleloader isn't a firearm.... we understand you live where you do... Illinois and New Jersey have weird state laws.

Lyman Plains Pistol 54cal First Target shoot

My next surgery will have me off from shooting for probably a year, they say the basal joint surgery isn't any fun, but does get rid of the arthritis pain.

Range this morning with the LGPR .54

I headed up to the gravel pit, placed the target stand out 25 yards... Since having carpal release surgery on the left hand Aug 27th my left hand is still in the cast. My right hand was 12 weeks before that surgery.... well I can use support to hold my LGPR up to shoot. I shot 5 shots at each...

Lyman Plains Pistol 54cal First Target shoot

I found out the other day, my right hand isn't ready for 55 grains with the LGPP from having carpal release surgery it felt pretty stout. Even 30 grains is a bit too much still, as I found out this morning.
