Barnes MZ Bullets, just the bullets?

I saw those and they sure look similar.

Barnes MZ Bullets, just the bullets?

Where can I find just the Barnes Expander MZ bullets (either 250 or 300), without the sabots in their fancy blister packs? I just want a box of 50, but it appears they don't sell them this way. Same way with Hornady's SST bullets, you have to buy them in pre-configures packs. Any ideas?

    Outlier fps On Chronograph?

Puddle Valley. There are 2 NR hunters for that unit.

    Outlier fps On Chronograph?

I'll give it another go. But first, off to Utah for pronghorn!

    Outlier fps On Chronograph?

Anyone have suggestions for a new one, reasonably priced. Would like the LabRadar, but...

    Outlier fps On Chronograph?

Each charge weighted to the 10th gr. An older Chrony F-1. (Moved out to 20' for the MZ.) Maybe I am just looking for an excuse for a new one? 🙂

    Outlier fps On Chronograph?

What caused the weird outlier chrono reading? Working on a new load with BH209 today (110gr bV, 85gr bW, with 250gr Hornady SST and black Harvester sabot). Got the following chrono readings: 2066 2056 2053 *2125 2065 2054 2052 2037 In the end, leaving that one out only changed my average by 7...

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

UPDATE: The SSK plug and bolt head mod worked 100%!!! I am a happy camper. Plus, the bolt handle rotation stiffness worked itself self out, as well. Who in the world at Knight thought that the plastic jacket was a good idea? BTW, thank you HC. Your tip on dry firing the primer works very well...

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

UPDATE: Got the SSK parts in. This may, or may not, be an issue: the bolt handle takes some effort to close that final drop. But, I suspect this is due to the tight fit of the primer into the flash channel tip. Tested fired some primers, everything works! Thank you everyone who assisted with...

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

I got you, no worries. Cleaning the flash channel is kind of like cleaning out the inside of an AR-15 bolt carrier; the right tool makes all the difference in the world.

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

Thanks for the reminder, will do on this new setup. On the Vortek it would really get crudded up in the channel, not much at all in the flash hole. I bought a special bit set made just for the plug, so a light touch would cut the crud in the channel with no damage.

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

I am really looking forward to swapping out the OEM parts and heading to the range. I have used the rubber o-ring spacers in my older Vortek. (And I had the full drill bit setup for cleaning channel and hole for that one.) A misfire almost caused me a failed elk hunt, but a second primer...

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

SSK order placed. Thanks all. Other than it not being reliable, it is a great rifle! Just a little disappointed in my home state companies product.

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

Update: Heard back from Knight, "We build that setup around Winchester primers. You may want to try those and see if they are more consistent.' I asked if it was still using BH209 in this rifle and he said Yes. So great, sitting here with well over a brick of 209As. Now to find Winchesters...

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

Here is what the jackets and plug look like after 5 rounds. This is a brand new rifle. Flame channel is still clear.

Ignition Delay with new Knight Ultra-Light?

Finally got to get the rifle to the range and experiencing something weird - an intermittent delay between primer and powder ignition. The first 2 shots had a definite delay between primer pop and powder ignition. Not a hang fire, but about 1/4 second delay. 3rd and 4th shots were just fine...

    MZ and air travel?

I've seen this solution, also. Just lightly press the primers in place, and manually recrimp.
