are powerbelts any good on deer

I moved from PB to Barnes and couldn't be happier. I just use the old PBs for sighting-in and target practice.

First Muzzy Purchase: CVA vs. Knight... Advice and Reviews!

I love my Mountaineer but it is too heavy for stalking, perfect in a tree stand or ground blind. I think the UL is the way to go.

    Night vison scopes

My understanding is that the resolution of IR NV is much better than thermal so you get a much improved image with the former. Thermal is more expensive and yet more pixillated. IR NV is now up to 4K so that is where I'll be heading.

    Tick Season

I was infected with Powassan virus after a tick bite 2 years ago in Massachusetts. Spent 4½ weeks in hospital with encephalitis. Full recovery fortunately considering there is a 10% mortality. Spray your clothing with permethrin.

    Stainless vs blued. Range report

This could simply be barrel to barrel differences. Not practical but the better test would be to compare 5 blued with 5 stainless and see what the variations are.

    On X hunting app.

I used to use OnX Hunt but now I use GAIA GPS. Have property lines for the whole country for the same price as one state in OnX. Very happy with it.

    Viewing The Bore

Just bought one of these - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PV51YB2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. There is another version with a thinner cable for half the price which uses a smartphone as the viewer.

    Why In-Line Muzzleloaders?

I'm from Massachusetts and we have 3 deer seasons - Archery, Shotgun and Primitive. There is overlap with some of these (e.g. Archery can be used during Shotgun and Primitive, Primitive can be used during Shotgun). I just prefer to use the "best" weapon for the job at the time so my choice is...

    Hello new member from Massachusetts

I’m also from Massachusetts. Welcome and enjoy the forum. I like archery and shotgun seasons but there is something special about hunting with a muzzleloader

eye relief . is 3.6 inches enough ?

Make sure the buttstock is hard against your shoulder so it is a good backstop for recoil.

    2WD vs 4WD

I have a 4WD F350 and the differential lock has got me out of a jam a few times.

For heavy items I just drag a sled behind me. Will be noisy though.

    New from New England

Welcome from Massachusetts. Do you have a game camera? A lot of deer are nocturnal at present so seeing them on camera is a start.

    Knight Mountaineer

OK here is the scenario. Carrying a mountaineer to a stand is a non issue. With a sling it is on my shoulder and you don't really notice the weight. In a tree stand or blind it is at the ready for any deer that comes within range. Perfect weapon. Different story while stalking or still...

    Knight Mountaineer

Doesn't answer your question but your friend may find this useful. I have a bare primer Mountaineer. Perfect gun if you are in a tree stand or blind but it is heavy if you have to lug it around.

    Scope

I've got a Leupold VX-R 3-9x on my Knight Mountaineer and couldn't be happier. Love the fact that it has a red dot (firedot) in the reticle which is superb in low light. I think the VX-R is now discontinued but there are other firedot scopes that are available.

    Knight Mountaineer Help

I had a faulty BP when I bought my new Mountaineer and Knight just sent a replacement. They will make things right for you and enjoy your ML, it is an awesome piece of equipment. Ended up fixing the original BP so now I have a spare.
