209 Primers Move the Powder & Bullet Forward Before Ignition?

My step-son got me the Variflame for my MK85 on my birthday long ago. So I thought I’ll just put it in and it should be ok. Next morning I had a huge buck come by right after 1st light. I fired 3 times and it never went off. Serves me right for not checking ahead of time.

    Optics

Most of the scopes on my ML or rifles are 3-9. When on stand I have it set on 5x. Don’t ever recall changing the magnification to shoot other than at the range for sighting in.

How many separate their 209 Primers by Length?

How would you guys interpret this measurement?

How many separate their 209 Primers by Length?

My measurement was correct per my calipers. It was .3000” PLUS another half of one thousandth (.0005”). That’s .3005” the way I was taught. If I had used a micrometer it would have been the the same reading. If I get ambitious later I’ll take a pic and post it.

How many separate their 209 Primers by Length?

I have 3 different QT breech plugs that I interchange and never noticed any difference in accuracy. So the next time I go to the range I’ll check for blow back. When I break open the action after shooting, I assume i can just wipe over the primer head while still in the breech plug with a...

How many separate their 209 Primers by Length?

With 20-30 shots, one O-ring ought to last me 10 years. No doubt some think they need to have primers at a certain length and diameter, but this reply I found in an online forum seems to make more sense than worrying about the primer’s length. If it fits snug under the rim I would think it...

How many separate their 209 Primers by Length?

I wasn’t aware that this was an issue. Is there a standard size O-ring we should use? I would assume we‘d need to get them in bulk? I would think these would be non reusable.

How many separate their 209 Primers by Length?

What does leaking do? Will this affect the 100 yard accuracy? I have a TC Triumph and it’s always a filthy mess when I’m done shooting.

    Triumph breach plug ?

I have (3) of the T/C XT breech plugs, and sent each one to BH (I think they were called Modern Powders back then) and they drilled each flash hole out to something like .031”-.032” or so. They were originally around .026”. Goes boom overtime with BH209.

    Pellet powder

Since a pellet requires some type of “adhesive" to hold the powder together, I would think they wouldn’t burn as fast as regular loose powder.

SOLD WTB Bases or Rail (Got One)

I have a silver 1 piece base but it has a flat base for a MK-85 type receiver.

SOLD WTB Bases or Rail (Got One)

I assume the Mountaineer requires rounded bases and not flat like a MK-85?

FOR SALE Excellant Kngiht LK-II with extra youth stock

I’ve had several PMs asking to sell the youth stock separately but I’m keeping the package intact. That way a youngster can start of with a shorter setup and then switch to the longer stock as they grow.

FOR SALE Excellant Kngiht LK-II with extra youth stock

Yes, my bad. LOP on the LK-II is 14” with the adult stock - a 1/4” shorter than my M-85, the youth stock I think is close to 1 1/2” shorter or so than the adult stock for about a 12 1/2“ LOP. The OAL for the LK-II is 40 1/8” with the adult stock compared to 42 3/4” on my MK-85.

FOR SALE Excellant Kngiht LK-II with extra youth stock

Here is my Knight LK-II in excellent condition. It has a Timney trigger that’s around 2 1/4# - 2 1/2#, and the newer Knight hex head breech plug. I have the hex removal tool as well. It has the regular composite stock plus an extra RARE composite youth stock that I bought when my 7 year old...

    MK-85

I have both the MK-85 and a LK-II that I bought for my grandson to use back when he was 7 years old. The LK-II has a 22” barrel and I think it’s about 2” shorter plunger to muzzle. I also bought a youth stock for it which knocked off another 2”. Is the LK-II the same as the LK-93 or are they...

    Bestill

Not sure what he sells but he helped me years ago and walked me thru how to reduce the trigger pull on my TC Triumph - that normal gunsmiths refused to do. Very simple but tedious , and I went from about a 4 1/2 - 5 pounds down to around 2 1/2#. 👍
