To add to my first post, if Knight doesn't have what you need, try Track of the Wolf. Look under 'gun parts' for nipples. They list umpteen thread diameters and pitches and even call out journal lengths and such. If TOW doesn't have one, nobody does.

Why not just buy one from Knight? Am I missing something here???

Thanks for the pics, don't need to grind for the bolt as the Wolverine is a plunger action but the first pic is very helpful for clearing the stock.

Update on the Savage. I eliminated one variable by pulling the scope + base and tried shooting it at 50 yards with the open sights. I tried 38grs of 5744 + a MMP black sabot + .452 250gr XTP. 3 shot group measured CTC was 2 9/16". I can shoot my H-R Huntsman with open sights better than that...

All things considered equal, would the typical Mountaineer be considerably more accurate than the typical Extreme or is it a case of splitting hairs?
