What is it about Hawken rifles that stirs our souls so much? Just something about them, even though the didn't really have as big a role as you would think.

When we were first married my wife and I spent a good amount of weekends in Oscoda at the KOA there. That would have been late 80's early 90's. Still get up to Harrison a couple times a year. Maybe this summer we will hook up and wring out the Encores.

I tried the 2f way back and it was horrible. The 3f is better or has it improved in recent years? As I recall, both the accuracy and the velocity was nowhere near Pyro or Triple Seven

When I was hunting with my TC Hawken I always fired a cap before loading, except for one time. Guess which time the big 12 point buck walked almost right into my stand? Guess who's rifle failed to go off.....

that is some great customer service from him. Knowing you shot something not recommended and he fixed it anyway. Good for you for posting up the issues you encountered using it. Maybe it will stop somebody else from making the same mistake.

Was going to post this. back when I could actually find time and $$$ to play with my Encore I shot up a good bunch of normal lead pistol bullets with the .40 caliber sabot. Works good for field rest practice.

I am the same way with a rifle, even a 22. The only shots I would take had a good bit of tree as the backstop and I would never take one that a hit was in doubt. I took a good number of squirrels with my T/C Hawken loaded with 50 grains of powder. The best ones were cooked fresh over a campfire...
