    Hawken History Exhibit

What is it about Hawken rifles that stirs our souls so much? Just something about them, even though the didn't really have as big a role as you would think.

    T/c hawken rifle's

I have not shot my Hawkens in some years but when I was, I used 3f Goex, 70 grains for normal shooting and 90 for hunting, a Walmart pillow ticking patch(bought a cheap couple yards and cut my own), Hornady round balls, and either just spit or a homemade lube of deer tallow and real Neatsfoot...

    Shootin in Michigan

When we were first married my wife and I spent a good amount of weekends in Oscoda at the KOA there. That would have been late 80's early 90's. Still get up to Harrison a couple times a year. Maybe this summer we will hook up and wring out the Encores.

Most accurate In Line, for the money

My Encore(same frame) in 204 Ruger shoots easily under 1 MOA, and loads it likes are much closer to a half when I am on my game. It is one of my most accurate platforms, second only to a heavy barrel Savage in 223. I don't doubt at all that the ML platform can be extremely accurate, as evidence...

Most accurate In Line, for the money

When I bought my Encore I spent a ton of $$$$ trying to get it to shoot under an inch. Sent it out to get the TLA removed, did all the Bellm tricks, tried the rifle primer conversion, tried a ton of different bullets and powder combos. In the end I got really close, but not sub-minute...

    Wow. So many changes

Hello again everybody. Been gone for a long time, I guess since the original board went down. I got the email to come back a few weeks ago. What a change. RIP Dave. That was a big shock. I always enjoyed his posts, banter and knowledge of this sport. All that said, I have not fired a ML shot...

    TC Hawken Owners

    Afternoon hunt

Sounds like a great hunt. Success is not always measured the same.. PS... I was going to bust your balls about not reloading because of COURSE... non of us have ever done something THAT dumb.....

    powder.

I tried the 2f way back and it was horrible. The 3f is better or has it improved in recent years? As I recall, both the accuracy and the velocity was nowhere near Pyro or Triple Seven

    Firing Primer After Cleaning. Why?

When I was hunting with my TC Hawken I always fired a cap before loading, except for one time. Guess which time the big 12 point buck walked almost right into my stand? Guess who's rifle failed to go off.....

I wanna throw my encore away

Have you had somebody else shoot it to rule out that factor? Encores do have a learning curve with placement on a rest. I also agree with whats been suggested. I chased a 1 inch group with mine and spent a ton of money doing it. After the Bellm after market pin and springs, 3 pyro pellets, a...

    Time to eat crow

that is some great customer service from him. Knowing you shot something not recommended and he fixed it anyway. Good for you for posting up the issues you encountered using it. Maybe it will stop somebody else from making the same mistake.

Very nice and a wonderful tribute.

Temptation lead me astray. New ML purchase.

Your not astray.. you came home. Inlines shoot well and are great for taking deer, but old school is still the best to get away from it all. Which reminds me I need to take my TC Hawkin back out. The next Lyman Great Plains rifle that comes up for a good price is coming to my house. I should...

    Plinking bullets???

Was going to post this. back when I could actually find time and $$$ to play with my Encore I shot up a good bunch of normal lead pistol bullets with the .40 caliber sabot. Works good for field rest practice.

    Squirrel Rifle?

I am the same way with a rifle, even a 22. The only shots I would take had a good bit of tree as the backstop and I would never take one that a hit was in doubt. I took a good number of squirrels with my T/C Hawken loaded with 50 grains of powder. The best ones were cooked fresh over a campfire...
