5/20/23 Mongrel sabotless 45cal ML. Range results with several bullets

It's not really a novel concept. Bad Bull has been doing it for a while too.

Aluminum ML Bullets, Frustrated and Irritated.

Tips we use in the arrowhead bullets are 6061. They do not shatter. Most of the time when recovered from game the tip looks like it could be reused.

    CVA and the Paramount

Personally, I think you guys are a little hard on CVA for the paramount. I've seen a lot of choked barrels over the years from just about all of the barrel manufacturers out there. We inspect the barrels on our builds before we start doing anything with them. Definitely not saying the...

Well we'll still have parts for them :)

    Converted Paramount

This is getting exhausting as I'm trying to get guns out. However, saying the arrowhead system has leakage issues because it craters primers due to sloppy firing pin hole on the paramount is pretty disingenuous. The arrowhead bolt head allows the primer to interface with the factory paramount...

But anyway, glad the HIS is working for you. We can both agree that the Arrowhead system isn't a good fit for what you're dong.

    Converted Paramount

It looks to me like your firing pin hole is extremely sloppy. The primer backing in to the firing pin hole isn't a plug issue it's a bolt head issue. The larger expansion chamber of the HIS probably masks it, but that's a bug not a feature. Less expansion chamber means more reliable...

Holy ****, I don't know what you're doing. But ya, way too much pressure! Never seen a firing pin shot through a primer like that. Very scary.

I appreciate your business Ok so wasn't an apples to apples comparison then. Your head space was loose. If I was doing from scratch barrel installs on a paramount I would do a different bolt head too or at least make sure head was flush with the firing pin nipple on the paramount. But for...

But wouldn't you have had to change head space to switch from the arrowhead paramount plug to the hankins plug? They don't head space out the same.

    Converted Paramount

If anyone believes hankins has "buckets" of arrowhead gen2 plugs from "trade-ins" I have beach front property in AZ for sale. I've seen one picture from him with a few arrowhead plugs. Most were UML plugs, probably from guys that did rebarrels or something. I encourage anyone that's having...

Tim if you were having leakage around the primers on the hard modules then you were way over pressure or something else was wrong with the setup.

    Converted Paramount

Big difference between leaking and blowing primers. Blowing primers is a pressure issue. Arrowhead gen2 will blow primers starting around 72gr depending on bullet weight and barrel length. HIS won’t because it’s not as efficient as arrowhead gen2 and has more room for gas expansion.

    400 yard elk muzzleloader

I haven't done gel testing, but based on in field results from customers, it still disrupts at 1400FPS. Maybe lower. It's definitely more on the explosive side. Would prefer a little more controlled expansion, but always taking expansion over penciling. And I've found that bonded bullets...

    400 yard elk muzzleloader

Closer is always better, but sometimes in the mountains, long is the only option. Hard to appreciate if you're from the midwest or east coast, but a totally different ballgame in the mountains.

Were you hunting on a clean barrel? Don't do that. Tighten up your fit and/or use a wad. H322 is perfectly fine for cold temps.
