    Mule ear 'Kit'???

Tho I like the idea of direct ignition, I’ve never cared for the look of an underhammer, but the mule ear has always intrigued... I did not realize there was no “halfcock/safe” position, as mentioned above...

    Curse of Oak Island

I like to binge several episodes at a time. There is generally an interesting historical thread and some of the stuff they find is neat to learn about...the narrator’s silly questions can get on your nerves, but I definitely remember saying, “this is gonna be a wild goose chase AND a shaggy...

Yikes! Black bears and big ‘yotes are all I need..enjoy your walks!

First day of ML in VT

Thursday was the open of the four day, ML “antlerless tag only” here in VT. TC PH/w a WS barrel, 250grn Hornady red tip over 110grns of Hodgdon FF. I was out early; nothing. Then firewood, etc, and a late start for the evening “hunt"; there’s just about 45 minutes of legal light, so I'm...

    Bore Rust Frustration

One word: “Ballistol”. After I finish the cleaning, I use the aerosol, straight up.no mixing.

Breech Plug - Teflon Tape of Grease?

I've been using a teflon lube from a tube, originally bought for the prop. shaft "grease" for my boat motor. I lost it once, and bought another, now I have enough for two lifetimes. It wipes off easily, and I have never experienced a stuck breech on four TC's. Each has a different styled...

How many separate their 209 Primers by Length?

I learned something new today: thank you!

What Breech Plug Grease/Anti-Seize Is Best?

When I bought a new prop for my boat, the shop recommended a tube of teflon grease. I use just a small dab on the threads. I think that was 1990...I still have the tube and have used more on breach plugs than on the prop screw; I have five, in all. I still have about 95% of the original grease...

How Dumb Do They Think I Am?

Three months, 14 days til I turn in my "ball and chain" Tech department: "Will you want to keep your number; transfer it to a new phone when you retire? You've had it for about 20 years..." Me: "Nope; it's all yours!"

    Unending Cruelty

My neighbor does the same, "foster to new home". I help when I can, and I always pause when they are out, walking, to be a calm and friendly addition to the new social training. Sometimes it takes a while, but I am proud to be included in her photos for prospective new families. I know most...

    I Don't Get It?

They can enforce the law, but they can't make it... Reminds me of 1959 when the Postmaster General decided he would no longer permit shipments of the book, The Catcher in the Rye, Congress said the same thing and lifted his "book ban."

    JEDEDIAH STARR TRADING CO.

Update: I ordered 11 pieces for ramrod rebuilds. Everything was exactly what I ordered and here when I expected it. There's no intention to minimize the struggles of others; just relating an experience of continued success with J.S.T.C. I'll continue to order from them.

    Jim Shockey Gold?

Not sure...he was promoting the Encore and probably got too much free swag? I like his older shows for the views of GI-normous whitetail and moose sporting awesome racks- his newer shows often include daughter Eva, and similarly wonderful views... ;-) As far as the powder goes; I have a can...

    JEDEDIAH STARR TRADING CO.

That's a bummer. I have been buying from Jed. Starr since 2011. I have another order on the way... I've bought everything from full kits to nipples and ramrod parts, and never had an issue - always get what I ordered and when I expect it. In fact, for one kit, I wanted a barrel that they did...

    .32 Cal Traditions Crockett

Wow! This thread goes way back! I ended up with a Southern Mtn kit from Jedediah Starr; they were out of .32 barrels, at least in 40 plus inches, so I got a very nice swamped 44" from GMB - For a starter course, I built a pistol, and then had some knowledge as I built the rifle. Still, some...

    Just Like Blackhorn

Ever since I began using just a dab of white/lithium grease on the threads of my breach plugs, that issue has disappeared. A tube looks like it will last a lifetime. I have heard others have similar success with plumbers/Teflon tape.

    Gun and ammunition prices

In Southern VT/NH gas prices have jumped up fifty to sixty cents/gal in the thirty days. I think it's the same all across the country. I run a small fifty-foot, Smallbore/NRA Marksman course for kids. A couple of bricks of .22's ($300 on GB.com today) exceeds the annual budget, if you can find...

    Hunting in rain?

Just noticing your "handle" - I live in the same neck of the woods as the VT radio personality, Arlo Mudgett. He's a good guy and a great neighbor.

I saw two deer this year....

After bow and rifle season were over, I had seen nothing but a 'yote's hind end flying over a little hill. In the rain on the opening morning of ML, I carried my PH and an additional doe tag. This little fella, 130lbs, live wt, appeared from a dark, wooded, ridge, just after sunrise. On...

    strange things that work

Ask someone into "crafting" where they'd go for wreath/seasonal decorations supplies. Those little bells are all over Christmas wreaths, and holiday, table decorations. We have a couple of fabric stores my wife likes to visit; it's too bad I had not read this before last week...tho I was able...
