I have finally received my MVA Sharps tang sight for my Shiloh Business rifle. 28” barrel. Can any of you 45-70 shooters give me a rough sight setting for 100 yards? I know there are a lot of variables but let’s just say for the 500 grain govt bullet

Which sight did you get? I'm looking at the133 for my 45/110 hunting rifle.

Thanks for all the suggestions 😂. I took her out to the range and got her roughly set at 100. Have a drift my front sight just a smidge. Now I can start to work on my come ups for the real ranges that I have to shoot at 200-600 yards.

Here is a rough estimate for elevation come-ups.

From 100 yds. come up 10 min. for 200 yds.
from 200 yds. come up 15 min. for 300 yds.
from 300 yds. come up 15 min for approx. 400 yds.
from 400 yds. come up 20 min. for approx. 500 yds.

These estimates will get you close enough depending on your powder charge and bullet weight.

Thankyou for the help. I will let you know how close your numbers were for mine.
If at all possible, have a spotter off to one side to look for your misses. It can be very hard to shoot and spot your impacts alone when trying to get on target.
