I'm new to muzzle loading as I just inherited my brother's Remington 700 ML 54 cal.
I've been looking in as many places as I can think of and haven't come up with any 54 cal rounds for the thing.
I was told I could use 54 cal sabots with a 50 cal bullet.
Having trouble finding the 54 cal black powder pellets my brother used to use.
Any thoughts on getting around these issues?

Welcome to the Forum

If you want a combo type pack (Bullet with sabot) you can get the Barnes Expanders. Use the Drop down in the link page to select .54cal.

I personally buy my sabots and bullets seperately in bulk and it saves some money. If you are huning mostly Deer this would be a good bullet and they shoot great.

A Great Plinker bullet that would put a hurt on Deer is this one. Both of these shoot to the same POI in my MK.

Use the MMP Purple Sabots for 54cal with 50 cal (.500) bullets.

Don't recall seeing any .54cal pellets myself. Hodgdon don't list them on their web site either. I would recommend you get a bottle of 777 2F loose Powder, a bottle funnel, and a Volumetric measure like the TC U-View. Start with about 90 grains and work up in 5 grain increments. Usually something in the 90 to 110 grain range you will find a sweet spot. I shot the Speer and Rainier over 100 grains of 777 2F and it shot great.

ShawnT, thank you sir. I will buy in bulk as you suggest. All his stuff for cleaning and everything Muzzle loader care got misplaced in the chaos of settling his estate so I'm having to gather the right cleaning gear as well.
I'll be plugging away at this for awhile.
Experimenting with loads as you have suggested. Thanks for your help.
