I built a bullet sifter to retrieve my muzzleloader lead conicals out of my dirt back stops. I have cleaned them best I can with water hose and picking out as much dirt as possible. They are completely dry so I would like to recast them. I am new at casting. I Have had 2 casting sessions with pure lead so far. Any suggestions on doing this?

I would cast your recovered bullets into ingots first then cast bullets from them. Also if you are new to casting I would recommend castboolits.com . A great resource of information .

Yes, Ingots into 1st. I use an old cast iron cornbread pan that has about 8-10 divisions. Smaller ingots are easier to manage into my lead pot than larger ones.
My casting setup is very simple, has worked for 25+ years and thousands of bullets.
On this section, there is a post/discussion on getting started.
Good luck - ask any questions.

1. throw in pot.

2. melt.

3. skim/flux.

4. pour.

5. if not pouring now cast into ingots for use later.

Make sure the bullets are DRY before you melt them. Just a drop of water will cause an explosion in the lead pot.
