Winds on Saturday were light and variable. Partly cloudy. Nearly a perfect day to shoot. Sunday started out with sunny skies and a fishtailing tailwind at about 5 MPH with the forecast of 10-20 MPH by day's end. The course of fire is 200-300 and 600 yards both days. The first 2 relays went well but at 600 yards I folded up like a cheap lawn chair. I positively couldn't pick a condition that held for enough time to get a shot off. Watch the wind flags, think OK time to shoot, get into the rifle, sight carefully, break the shot, look up, wind flag changed direction !!! When a fishtailing wind is blowing at 20 MPH at 600 yards, bullet impacts can go from the left side of the target to the right. It was nuts. Live and learn. We shoot in 2 classes, scope and iron sights. I shot a Shiloh Sharps 40-70 SS, 14 1/2 twist Green Mountain barrel, 65 grains of Swiss 1 1/2, 440 grain Hoch bullet cast at 24:1, Winchester large pistol primer.
